Jameis Winston value in 2QB leagues?

Postby Lssd2012 » Wed Mar 25, 2015 7:37 pm

What rookie pick would you use on Winston in a 2QB league? I have a very solid WR core and unless Gurley falls to the 1.02, I think i will take Winston there.

Mandatory 2 QB he is 1.01 for me. Superflex you get into the positional debate, but he makes it to Top 5 for me.

Undeniably, he and Mariota join the big-4. And I'd need a very compelling reason (or three) not to draft him #1.

I have a pretty stud duo in Wilson and Brees but not much behind them. My rb situation is far worse. Hyde is my only starter but I'm just not sold on Gordon to take him at the 1.02 and my wr's are already top of the league.

I'm pretty much locked in on taking him at 1.01 myself. I think if you need a QB, he's going to be worth the pick. The value of young QBs usually retains at a higher bottom floor for much longer, so I think it's both the safest pick and potentially the highest value pick for 2 QB leagues.

brees being old means draft winston and you can have him waiting in the wings. or you trade back from 1.1, pick up rb help but you gotta stay in the top 6 imo. big drop off in 2qb leagues after 1.6

you have the right idea, but i think the rb depth in this draft pushes it back to the 10 range, depending on how you feel about everyone. if you could move 1.2 for three top 10's, i would do so. i also feel winson would be a great pick at 2, especially if its a must start 2 and owning brees. im not sure i would take two 1st's unless one was in the top 4.winston is not luck, but the best prospect since him imo. your just taking the risk of the off the field stuff.

I'd still take him because of Brees age and their offseason seems to pushing the saints to more of a ball control offense. Brees won't be chucking it 700 times anymore. Additionally, if Winston flops you still have Brees and if he takes off like I believe he will then go ahead and use Brees for trade bait next year

unless the eagles get him I really wouldn't feel happy about taking mariota at 2...I would look at Gurley or a WR or a trade down to 5 or 6 in that scenario.

I agree. I'm currently staying away from Mariota with my 1.02/04. Unless I can get Winston there, I'm going WR/RB.

The difference between even a start 2 and Superflex is pretty big. Start 2 QB and Mariota is in the Top 4 for me given that he will be taken high enough to get lots of rope by the franchise and viewed as a long-term option. There are only 2 people for that in this class, with more confidence than many past highly drafted QB options like Geno, EJ, Locker, Ponder, Gabbert, Weeden, etc. who were perceived reaches even at the time.

In Superflex he is Top 7 right now, before knowing landing spots, with Cooper/White/Parker/Gordon/Gurley/Winston. Team need could push people around/down, but this is likely the bunch in those formats as top 7.

in 2QB leagues (as distinct from superflex) any rookie QB with a reasonable chance at being an NFL starter acquires incredible value.
given the prospect and the likely NFL team involved, i think the 1.01 is perfectly reasonable here.
