OBJ vs. Julio Jones vs. A. J. Green

Postby Crazylegs » Wed Jan 07, 2015 8:34 pm

So, OBJ has shown he can play, but as a pro we only have a limited sample size. Many are already anointing him, and I have heard arguments that he is now the #1 Dynasty receiver. I think this argument is at this time a minority opinion, but I am curious. Do people feel OBJ is now the #1 Dynasty receiver, or put another way, would anyone move Julio Jones or A. J. Green for him straight up?

This constant Beckham talk around here has 100% solidified that I need to sell him now for a massive haul.

But to answer the question I'd rather own AJ or Julio.

I loved OBJ...DLF has made me now hate him Josh Gordon style haha

Give me AJG, Julio, Dez, Antonio, Dem and maybe Calvin (depending on situation) over OBJ

Agreed haha. If he does it again next year then I'll accept missing the bus on that one. But I'd take any of the above receivers for him if I owned him (Calvin would be iffy).

I love love love beckham.

The argument depends on the kinda leavue you play in.

If you truly can keep beckham forever do you give up 4 prime seasons for aj and Julio who (at very best will be CLOSE) to beckham next year.

And for those of you who think I am crazy? Julio has never had a better season In FOUR YEARS than what beckham did in 12 games. Most Tds Julio has ever had in his career is 10. Until this season, Julio never had a season even with 80 catches.... I mean tell me how it's "so insane" to have beckham up there with Julio? Sample size? Julio has had 4 years and he has never scored more points than beckham... What are you waiting for?

Is beckham going to regress? OF COURSE!!! He had a better ppg than Antonio brown and for you stat guys who know this, Antonio brown had the second most fantasy points in ppr for a wide receiver EVER this season . (Yes better than moss 2007)

So no beckham is not going to repeat what he did... If he did he would be the number one wr every single season for the rest of his career. Even if beckham drop his ppg in ppr by 5 (so a 20% reduction in overall production) he finishes with a jordy Nelson equivalent season next year.

Again I'm not saying beckham should be taken over those guys... But the guys who act like it's this travesty we are discusising them in the same tier are insane.
Julio has had a 4 year sample size to do LESS than what beckham did in 12 games..... Why are we giving 4 years for the "proven" guy who still hasn't had the dominant season all Julio's lovers are wetting their pants for?

Rant over.

Joeday tell me what is so tragically off about my argument.
Outside of "measurables" what has julio done that warrants him head and shoulder above beckham?
Is it his constant injuries?

I don't understand the LOL posters on here? Are you the same people who said LOL to antonio brown last offseason?

The kid has got it. Its clear as day. His stats don't matter WATCH him play and tell me he is a fluke. He can play all three positions which allows him to line up all over the field. He is a freak athlete, gets excellent separation, and it looks like he had super glue on his gloves.

Again I'm just saying same TIER as them. If you want AJ and Julio over Beckham fine. I have no issue. (i would take AJ over Beckham personally)
But it is a preference at this point, not a laughable massive difference between the player.

I never called him a fluke, never said your argument was off, never said anything was laughable, never LOL'd at any of your points, never said Julio was head and shoulders above him.

I have OBJ in a 32 team real salary cap league. For that reason, I have him as the most "valuable" WR in that league (friendly contract with multiple years left, plus ability makes him #1 in my book). In a PPR or standard I'd still take Dez, AJG, and Brown over OBJ, but I think that's it. Julio drives me nuts with the nagging injuries and AJG is beginning to reach that point with me as well. Dez is definitely #1 in my book, but OBJ could easily be my #2 3-4 games into next year (or even sooner)

Nagging injuries for AJG? He had the toe and bruised arm this year, but in his 3 previous seasons he missed 1 game. I think we may be being a touch dramatic. Technically i believe obj has missed the same amount of games in one year as AJG has his entire career lol. I don't disagree with the rest of your take though.

Are we really comparing OBJ to AJ and Julio? He has had half a good season while Cruz was out. I'm not anointing him anything until I see how his targets are once Cruz is back. With that being said he isn't even in my top 10 WR at this point. The hype train is strong here OBJ is a sell to me especially if I can get one of the big 6 WR.

Yes we are .. I personally have never seen anything like it. I thought Moss was amazing, but this guy is making him look like a one trick pony.

I am happy to make him the #1 WR asset in Dynasty. He gets my vote.

Im all for saying who you want, who's the best etc, but if we're comparing him after 12 games to RANDY bleep MOSS, then I think I might have to overpay for OBJ and then flip him for more.
