In a PPR SuperFlex, what rookie pick do you value Gio Bernard at?

I made a post on the team advice forums, but think it would be better suited for this one

It depends if you're asking what would I pay for him or what would I give him up for.

I'd probably look for a mid-to-late 1st if I was trading him away. However, I wouldn't pay a 1st for him.

This surprises me a bit. May I ask why you wouldn't give a 1st for Gio?

If you're looking to move him, I'd shoot for the 1.04 range. However, now is one of the worst times to be trying to acquire picks (and it onlt gets worse from here on out). I expect people will have vice grips on the picks & you'll have to settle for 1.08-1.10.

I guess I would look at it as if you had Gio and what it would take for you to move him. Kind of surprised you wouldnt move a 1st for him.

I just don't have the faith in him that others seem to have. I traded him prior to the season in a package to get McCoy and even though McCoy has struggled - I still have no regrets.

Gio is best used as a passing down back - in a Shane Vereen type role. Hill is the superior runner out of the backfield. On top of that, the Cincy offense has a lot of mouths to feed (especially when Jones & Eifert come back) - the problem with that is that due to the QB situation - they don't have an elite offense and everyone's usage will be limited.

I think his value will never be higher than it was this past off-season.

At the end of the day - I think he becomes a mid-RB2 at best in PPR leagues.

I just think people might be jumping the gun a bit when they say Hill is the better runner. I didn't get to watch the game yesterday, but Gio had a nice ypc(4.9) and Hill didnt do too well(3.07). As an owner of both, I think they could both succeed together. I think Gio will be a consistent RB1 in PPR leagues with weekly upside for big play potential. I think Hill will be more of a RB2, since I don't think he will get nearly as many looks in the passing game. Although he had 4 catches to Gio's 1 yesterday. He has also shown big play potential, so he could definitely have some RB1 weeks.

Too many people get caught up in the YPC number. Does it have some merit? Yes, absolutely. However - it's not a solid indicator of performance. Especially off of 10 carries.

The more indicating number? Gio only netted 6.3 points in PPR decimal-scoring leagues. Hill was only 9.2.

Don't mistake me as saying Hill is an RB1. Neither of these RBs are an RB1 as long as they are both there and the Bengals run the offensive system that they do.
