Clowney

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Clowney

Postby benparry23 » Wed Apr 02, 2014 3:57 pm

At what point in a rookie draft does it become acceptable to take a player like him?

I think he could put up some serious points and be a distinct advantage at his position, but Id be wary of reaching for him.

Should a player like him go first round, or would it depend on what you need?

For my second team in my sig, I don't think I have any distinct areas of weakness other then my IDP players, Im not considering using the #1 pick on him, but do you think if he was a player Id want, id need to move up from #11 or #13 or should he be there.... theoretically...... (In case anyone from my league reads this! Lol)

Theoretically... I think he should be there at 11, teams picking before that in a 16 teamer should have bigger things to worry about than defensive linemen. But then again it only takes one person to take him in the top 10.

It's a tough call because the teams drafting at the end of the first tend to be the better teams in the league, and if they're stacked at the offensive positions they might be more inclined to take a shot at Clowney. I think you have to look at team makeup in order to decide whether or not he'll be there.

It is all about need too. I traded out of the first early in the season, and hoped Clowney would be there in the 2nd, but there is an owner whose DL is a disaster. He might have to draft high on Clowney. If the need is there I say he could go in the first.

Im 99% certain to take Watkins with the #1 pick, which I think rounds out a solid WR Corp, I'm happy with my RBS and TEs.

Is it crazy to consider trying to trade up to get into position to guarantee getting Clowney?

I'm not 100% sold on this years RBs and don't think I'd use another wr. Other then a bye week/backup QB is there any other logical player to draft?

Would anyone else consider trying to trade up to get in position for Clowney?

Or do you think there is a pressing need elsewhere in my team?

I think a lot depends on what posistion he ends up in. The Texans are talking that if they draft him, he would be an OLB which would really hurt his value. If he is a DL I could see taking him near the end of the first, and should for sure be the first DEF player taken.
