Bobby Rainey Value

My team (in my sig) is pretty injured and well out of contention this year. I picked up Rainey a week before his big day, so I'm now looking to trade him to a contender who wants an RB rental for the stretch run.

My question is: What is fair value for him? I was thinking a late 2nd.
I do have Martin, so I suppose I could keep Rainey next year. But in a league our size, I don't know if thats the best use of my roster space.

Thanks.

Here is my thread about this that I posted *during* his big game versus Atlanta.

late 2nd is tough to get (at least in my 16 teamer) ... no one biting.

I'd keep him. I don't know that the type of players you find at the bottom of the 2nd are going to be any better of an use of roster space.

Only bite I've gotten on Rainey has been a mid 3rd in a 12 team league.

I would not sell Rainey for any less than a mid 2nd rounder. He benefits my roster now and has a slight shot at succeeding in Tampa once the coaching change happens so who knows. Id rather risk that after seeing what he can do than chancing it on a pick less than 2.4-6

Thanks for the advice. I was able to trade Rainey and Kendall Hunter to an impatient, win-now owner in exchange for Cordarelle Patterson. I'm pretty thrilled with the deal.

Traded Rainey to a contender (as am I) in the same division for a 2015 1st. Guy was hurting at RB. Hate making move to strengthen a potential playoff foe, but couldn't pass up that value. On a side note, Rainey's schedule is no cake walk down the stretch.

How is this trade fair. I honestly would prefer a draft 1st or 2nd round draft pick to the two scrubs you peddled for CP. See your comment on Gio below. CP has greater dynasty value than Gio.

Just because 2 people think it's fair is irrelevant. They can find their trades to be fair all day, but if they are universally considered to be lopsided then it can upset the balance of the league..

I just traded Bobby Rainey in a 16-team PPR league for a late 2nd round pick (pick #26-32)

I'm not sure what your point is here, bud. I never said it was a fair deal, I said I was thrilled with it (i.e. I clearly won the trade). Just the same way the guy who got Gio probably didn't think he was getting a fair trade. He knew he was winning. My point from that other thread was that if 2 owners constantly engage in lopsided trades it can mess up the balance of the league regardless of whether or not those 2 owners think the deal is fair or not.

Besides, Gio for a 2nd is far worse than this trade. Gio has already shown flashes of brilliance while Patterson hasn't done anything besides a few impressive kick returns. I still like this deal for myself a lot, but it is far closer to being even than Gio for a 2nd rounder was.

Gio for a 2nd is pretty close to collusion. I mean less than a year ago he was drafted with likely an early 1st and certainly hasn't sucked/sat on the bench useless.

Anyway I would want alot more than some journeymen RB's for Patterson but good to turn Rainey and Hunter into him. I do think Hunter has a real chance as Gore's replacement, if that ever happens.

^My thoughts exactly. My leaguemate's reasoning is that Hunter has a decent chance of replacing Gore next year and he needs Rainey to start the rest of the year as he attempts to make a playoff run. Giving up Patterson for that is silly imo, but he clearly doesn't believe in Patterson at this point.
