Trading for A. Rodgers in 2QB League...

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for A. Rodgers in 2QB League...

Postby dlf_erich » Fri Apr 06, 2012 8:30 am

I'm in a 2QB league, and it appears the owner of Rodgers is making him available. I have pick 1.02 (Luck or RGIII), and am thinking about offering him the following:

Matt Ryan and pick 1.02 for Aaron Rodgers and 2.05.

This would leave him with Ryan and Ponder at QB, as well as pick 1.02. I would be left with Rivers and Rodgers, but no QB3 to speak of.

Am I paying enough? Too much? Would I be better off keeping the pick and taking Luck or RGIII?

Team and league specs in my sig.

I would give even more than that for Rodgers in a two qb league. He's extremely valuable.

2010 - 3rd; 2011 - 1st

RB: Peterson, DMC, Sproles, Ridley, Gore, S. Jax, Stewart, Blount, Vereen, D. Richardson
WR: Welker, Nicks, Jennings, Dez, Smith (car), Crabtree, M.Williams (TB), J.Baldwin, J. Gordon, Hixon, Jenkins
TE: Graham, Hernandez, D. Allen

2013: 1, 3, 3, 3, 5 (order tba) - 2014: 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (order tba)

It's a fair offer IMO. The 1.2 pick has a lot of value in a 2QB league b/c you're getting either TRich, RGIII or Luck.

Rodgers is a proven stud - in fact proven top 1-3 producer at his position for the next 5-6 years. Luck RGIII and TRich are all great to get - but all unproven. If anyone would even consider not trading any of them for Rodgers, (unless you already have Cam, Brady, Brees, or Stafford), I think you are overvaluing rookies by a huge degree. By drafting Luck or RGIII - your hope - beyond all hope - is that they will one day develop into as good of a qb as Rodgers. So why wouldn't you just go get Rodgers instead if thats an option? No-brainer.

I agree. If your comparing Rodgers to the 1.2 its no contest but the trade isn't Rodgers for 1.2 its Rodgers for Ryan & 1.2 or Rodgers for Ryan and RGIII. In a 2QB league that's a pretty fair offer IMO particularly if Rodgers is all the other team has at QB. So he is getting one bona fide top 10 QB and another with tons of potential.

If you can get it done, I'd jump on it, but I don't know if he accepts it. I'd even be willing to take out his second and give him all of your picks (the third rounders wouldn't do much) to get the deal done.

Thanks for the feedback so far. For comparison's sake, here were Ryan's and Rodgers' stats and ranks last year in my league's scoring system:

Rodgers - #2 QB, 49.0 points per game (obviously didn't play week 17, or would've likely been the #1 QB)
Ryan - #9 QB, 36.0 points per game (only played half of week 17, and barely more than half against the Jags)

Ryan is not Rodgers, but he's a valuable QB to have in our league, so it's not like it's just pick 1.02 "and change" for Rodgers...

With Rivers on your team as your second qb it's a no-brainer to me.
TEAM 1
10 Team - 2QB; .5 ppr; 2QB, 2RB, RB/WR, 3WR, WR/TE, TE
2010 - 3rd; 2011 - 1st

RB: Peterson, DMC, Sproles, Ridley, Gore, S. Jax, Stewart, Blount, Vereen, D. Richardson
WR: Welker, Nicks, Jennings, Dez, Smith (car), Crabtree, M.Williams (TB), J.Baldwin, J. Gordon, Hixon, Jenkins
TE: Graham, Hernandez, D. Allen

2013: 1, 3, 3, 3, 5 (order tba) - 2014: 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (order tba)

TEAM 2
12 team - QB, 2RB, 2WR, WR/RB, TE)
3 Keepers: Calvin, Charles, AJ Green (Ryan)
2008 - 1st; 2009 - Champ; 2010 - nadda; 2011 - 1st

TEAM 3
12 team: (superflex, QB, 2RB, 2WR, Flex, TE)
QB: Stafford, E Manning, Rivers, T. Taylor, D. Carr
RB: DMC, W. McGahee, D. Martin, Stewart, Vereen, R. Williams, R. Brown
WR: R. White, AJ Green, Nicks, Maclin, M. Williams, J. Baldwin,
TE: Cook, H. Miller, Kendricks, Charles Clay, Taylor Thompson

Well, I doubt it's going to happen. I thought he would at least think about it, because another league member was going to offer him 1.03, 1.04 and 1.08 for Rodgers. I thought that 1.02 > 1.03, and at worst Ryan = 1.04 and 1.08, but he basically just said "no" without an offer to counter. I thought my offer was better, but oh well. I have a contending team and will go to war with who I have...

Pretty decent offer. Might have to drop his second rounder or add in a small piece on your side to get it done tough. If he's publicly available, you have to beat out the other owners offers as well.
Team 1: 10 Team, 4 Keeper League, Non-PPR
QB: Deshaun Watson
RB: Ezekiel Elliott, Leonard Fournette, Kareem Hunt
WR: Julio Jones, Dez Bryant
TE: Rob Gronkowski

Yeah I basically said to him "you know who's on my team, let me know." We'll see what happens...

This would be an easy no for me. But I don't value rookie picks near as high as everyone else on this board.

RB: David Johnson $16/3, Dalvin Cook $8/1 (R), Sony Michel $8/2 (R), Miles Sanders $8/3 (R), Chris Thompson ($12/1), Ito Smith $5/2 (R), Justice Hill $6/3 (R)
WR: Deandre Hopkins $35/3, Juju Smith Schuster $7/1 (R), Tyler Boyd $33/1, Corey Davis $9/1 (R), Marquise Brown $7/3 (R), Dante Pettis $4/2 (R), Marquise Goodwin $8/1, Richie James $4/2 (R), Kelvin Harmon $5/3 (R)

He countered with Rodgers and 1.05 for R. Rice and 1.02. Very fair deal, but definitely cripples my RB's both this year and for the future. Thoughts?
