Draft Nabers (1.02) or trade pick for Hall?

Postby Randomguess » Tue May 07, 2024 6:58 am

12 man league, PPR, 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 non QB flex
RB: Bijan, ETN, R White, Z White, Spears
WR: Lamb, Nacua, Olave, D Smith

Have 1.01,1.02, 1.04 so i'll be adding MHJ for sure. Would you draft Nabers at 1.02 or offer the pick to the owner of Hall? He has JT and Kyren, so he might want one of my RBs in addition to 1.02 and then I'd ask for something in addition to Hall. Hall is obviously a top 3 dynasty RB. Nabers has been compared to Chase. As far their teams, Hall has the better QB this year, IF Rodgers stays healthy. But Rodgers will probably retire in 1-2 years. Nabers should see a lot of volume, but on a garbage offense and likely a new QB in 2025. Anybody have a strong stance one way or another here for my team and format?
Team 1:
QB: Stroud, Minshew
RB: Bijan, ETN, R White, Z White, Spears
WR: Lamb, Nakua, Olave, D Smith, Shakir, Iosivas
TE: Laporta, Ferguson
2024 picks: 1.01, 1.02, 1.04, 4.02
2025 two 1sts

My initial reaction would be to trade the 1.02 for Hall since you are getting MHJ. However, in a 1 QB league, I believe there is a tier drop after the 1.03. Bowers, Worthy, Thomas, Daniels/Williams are all below the three elite WRs. I would have some doubt the Hall owner would want to trade Hall for the 1.02. I could see them countering with JT instead.

I'd also suggest exploring the trade market for your 1.04 pick and maybe acquiring a tier two RB that way. If Nabers does end up being the new Chase, you'll be regretting this in two years.

Here is an alternative trade. Would you offer this or just keep the picks?
Give Etienne, 1.02, 1.04
Get Hall, Amon-Ra

No, I’m keeping the picks and I’m not trading the 1.02 for Hall either.

Based on process alone, young stud WR is a better investment than young stud RB.
Hall is a amazing and should thrive, but I think the same about Nabers.
So usually would just follow process here. In 5 years, Nabers will be in his prime, and Hall in the back-end of career.

For sure. Win now mode Hall but medium and long term Nabers (future HOF). 😆😆

Hall. I don’t really care about 5 years from now even in a dynasty league.

Full PPR I want Nabers, as WR's tend to score more points in Full PPR and have longer careers. Nabers is only 20 years old.
If it was Half PPR or you desperately needed RB's I could see going Hall, but it's not Half PPR, and you are not desperate.

Hall caught 76 passes last year. It’s fair to assume that he won’t suffer in a ppr format.

I'd try and get Hall for 1.04 plus, ideally.

Hall >>> 1.02 in a single qb start 7. I don’t see how this is close in this shallow format. Format matters.
