What WR should I go after?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What WR should I go after?

Postby stockerj » Mon Mar 25, 2024 9:13 am

Sig 3

I need to go after a more established Wr to somewhat build with. I like the young guys I have and plan to work build around them.
I'm planning to go after Pittman, may try Pickens or Higgins. But wanted to hear any other thoughts on who I can go after
Thoughts?

Olave...stud. Addy and Flowers are holds and could be in stud category. Sutton is a nice bench piece, Williams could be one. Honestly you have a stable that could rock but also could hold you back.

It really depends on what capital you plan to use to do so. It doesn’t look like you have much depth at QB or TE, and not much at WR. Unless you plan to shop Jacobs off the new gig or Pacheco (etc), we don’t have a way to decide. If you can add a pick or bench WR as a sweetener on top of a back for a RB-needy team, look around that range on whatever rankings to you favor to choose a WR you can live with.

There's a fine needle to thread here, for a dynasty manager looking to add a quality WR without breaking the bank. We want guys that can be consistently productive, but we can't target guys whose consensus value is already too high.

Depending on what you have to pay, I would rule out Pittman and Higgins. And also Olave, London, Waddle, Nico etc, because those 3-4 year vets have reached a level of value unlikely to lower this offseason. And second year guys like Addison/Flowers/Rice are riding that wave of expectation that they have bigger seasons coming, which has their value high as well.

I'm looking at some guys that other managers look at as flawed somehow, or sort of late bloomers. Those two lists would include Dell/CWatson/TMc/Diontae (flawed for some owners); and JMeyers/QJohnston/RShaheed who could all step up another level. Also, a guy like Renfrow could be a ppr machine if he lands with the right team. I could see Renfrow becoming Allen's favorite target on a budget contract; or eating up targets from Murray while being the veteran possession guy alongside MHJr.

One point of reference. In 2023, JMeyers averaged 13.7 to 11.5 for Higgins. Flowers had 12.7, Rice 13.3 and Addison 13.0. In 2023, Meyers was in a group with Waddle/TMc/Flowers/Addison/Kirk/etc in total points. For ppg Meyers was in a group with Rice/GWilson/Pickett/Devonta/Waddle. That's a nice comfort zone for me. and his price is much lower than every one of those guys. When I target production instead of name value, it usually works out well.

Instead of paying 3X for one of the already-recognized-studs, I'd prefer to pay 1X for two bites at the might-be-very-sneakily-productive vets.
