Puka for Bijan

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Puka for Bijan

Postby tsarpepe » Thu Mar 21, 2024 7:53 pm

In a PPR contract league I just got an offer to give my Puka for his Bijan. Puka is on a 5-year $1 deal; Bijan is on a $60 contract that can be as long as 6 years. I'm thinking of keeping Puka. Am I crazy?

(I have the space to fit the $60 charge for Bijan in my budget, but it will make things tighter down the road.)

In the minority for FF but I don't "believe" in Puka (yet) so I'm doing this trade straight-up.

Salary cap makes this tough to answer. I play SC and based on the little bit of information - I'm keeping Puka. At least in my league having a surefire weekly starter on $1 contract is a big advantage. Puka is on a $3 contract (out of $250) in my league making him one of the most valuable assets overall.

I’d make the swap for Bijan
Qb: Hurts, geno Smith
Rb: JT, Gibbs, Montgomery, Roschon, Z. White, Ty Chandler
Wr: AJB, JJ, Chase, waddle, G Wilson
TE: Pitts, Kincaid, Likely, Njoku

2024 1.01, 1.04, 1.05
10 team
9 players kept yearly
Non PPR
Not super flex
Start 1/1/2/1/2 flex
1 point per first down
All tds 6 points

1 dollar for a stud is unreal, hence why this deal is on the table. keeping puka (and im 99/100 times taking bijan over puka, this is the 1 time lol)
team 1
12 team, 1 pt for 4 rec, 0.1 per rush
1qb, 3 rb, 4 wr, te, k, 4 idp
Dak , Herbert
Achane, Breece Hall, KW3Kyren,Ford, Miller, Spiller, z evans, singletary
J Jefferson, Diggs, DK, D Smith Puka, C Watson, E Moore
Njoku , HH, Engram

2024 picks
1,3,4,5,5,6,7 (all late mostly)

team 2
12 team .5ppr
qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, te, flx,flx,
Fields, Dak
Ford,Mixon, Javonte, Mostert, Chubb, Spears
Hopkins, Evans, g Wilson Mingo, shaheed, Jamo
Kelce,McBride, Chig,

1,2,3,3,5

team 3
14 team sf, even scoring idp to offense (rb scores highly too)
Josh Allen, A Rich, Foles, Rudolph
Bijan, Charbs, Spears, Ebner
J Williams, G Wilson, C Watson, Flowers, J Addison, Tillman
Kincaid, Kolar, Ruckert, Fergeson

Kenny Clark, josh allen, jaelen phillips, felix a-u and a bunch of fluff and rookie fliers at idp

x2. Yeah, this sounds like the equivalent of keeping a mega stud at the cost of an 18th round pick vs. an uber stud at the cost of a 1st round pick. (Sorry I've never played contract leagues but I've played in keeper leagues where the round you drafted someone the prior year is what you'd pay to keep him the next year, ish)

You keep the diamond in the rough that was super cheap and use your money (picks, whatever) to load up again. Puka at $1 is like the equivalent of Mahomes on a rookie contract in real life, something like that even if I'm exaggerating a little.
"Marathon Square" - 16 team full PPR league with 24 player roster. Keep 16 per year indefinitely, draft 8. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST
QB: Jordan Love, Deshaun Watson
RB: Travis Etienne, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Kendre Miller, Jaleel McLaughlin, Sean Tucker, Deuce Vaughn
WR: A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Hodgins, Justin Shorter
TE: T.J. Hockenson, Cole Kmet, Kylen Granson
K: Didn't make the playoffs in 2023  , and don't usually hold one in the offseason
Team DST: Cowboys, Lions

Picks:
2024: 1.06, 2.06, 4.06, 5.06, 6.06, 7.06, 8.06

Disclaimer: My one and only Championship in this league was way back in 2011. Therefore, take my replies with the appropriate grain of salt.

Similar situation in this league, but the max budget is $1000. So I get to have Puka for 1/1000 of the total or Bijan for 6/100.

So, basically, for the price of Bijan, I get to have Puka + a high-end TE like Hockenson.

Bijan is the standard answer, but in a contract league here, the value of Puka is just too good to pass up.

id beall for trading puka here because i dont have much belief in him long term but if the cost of robinson long term hurts you id stick with puka for now but shop him in other deals for better players that just dont eat ip as much cap

What’s the cap? That’s pretty important here unless I missed it in the thread somewhere. This seems like puka by a mile to me but that number would sway things.
