2024 Advice

Postby joekuhns11 » Fri Feb 02, 2024 8:43 am

Team #1 - I just got 2nd place and am set up pretty good. I feel like QB is my biggest weakness and WR depth next. I plan on grabbing Marvin Harrison JR w/ the 1.01 pick. For insight, it is a 1 QB league, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE. I also own the 2025 1st round pick of the worst team running and it will most likely (95% chance) of being the 2025 1.01

Question: Do I make a play for a more concrete QB before the draft which would require me trading my 1.07 or 1.10 plus a 2026 1st or do I just wait until the draft, and select one of the top rookies with my 1.07 or 1.10?
Team #1 (Finished 2nd)
QB - Watson
RB - Hall, Jacobs, Mixon
WR - Tyreek, Jefferson, Chase, Jayden Reed, Cooper
TE - Goedert, Kmet
2024 Picks: 1.05, 1.10, 2.01

Team #2 (Finished 1st)
QB - Tua, Pickett
RB - Hall, Barkley, K. Walker, James Cook
WR - Chase, D. Smith, D. Adams, Hopkins, Jameson Williams
TE - Laporta
2024 Picks: None

Where Jacobs lands and what his role is will be a big factor as well for your hopeful push but you are in good shape with the 1.01 this year and likely next, nice place to be! I don't think you have to go all in on a QB but if you can land an elite and more consistent option for the 1.10 and QBs score well in your format, I see very little drawback in that deal based on the prospects likely to be available with the 1.10.

in a 1qb you should not at any point be thinking about trading 2 firsts or even really 1 first for a qb.

id prob try to move 1.10 for multiple 2nds and load up at rb there and use 1.01 and 1.07 on WRs or bowers if he falls to 7
team 1
12 team, 1 pt for 4 rec, 0.1 per rush
1qb, 3 rb, 4 wr, te, k, 4 idp

J Jefferson, Diggs, DK, D Smith Puka, C Watson, E Moore
Njoku , HH, Engram

2024 picks
1,3,4,5,5,6,7 (all late mostly)

team 2

Fields, Dak
Ford,Mixon, Javonte, Mostert, Chubb, Spears
Hopkins, Evans, g Wilson Mingo, shaheed, Jamo
Kelce,McBride, Chig,

1,2,3,3,5

team 3
14 team sf, even scoring idp to offense (rb scores highly too)
Josh Allen, A Rich, Foles, Rudolph
Bijan, Charbs, Spears, Ebner
J Williams, G Wilson, C Watson, Flowers, J Addison, Tillman
Kincaid, Kolar, Ruckert, Fergeson

Kenny Clark, josh allen, jaelen phillips, felix a-u and a bunch of fluff and rookie fliers at idp

In a 1QB take Harrison and then see who is there with your 7/10. I expect you will be able to get one of Williams, Maye, or Daniels. IDK how the rest are going to shake out—Nix, Penix, JJM—but they can be had later. There are a ton of WRs 8-11 after the top three) so there will be picks to be made. AND the RBs still have to shake out. Not to mention Bowers.

QB—Allen, Pickett RB—Kamara, Jacobs, ZWhite, Edwards, Ford, Warren WR—Lamb, Olave, DJM, Puka, Tillman, Marshall, Jefferson, Robinson, Tucker TE—Ferguson, Schoon, Likely, Smith, Washington, Kraft PK—Prater DEF—BAL

D4:
QB—TLaw, JimmyG, Tannehill, AOC, Hall RB—Bijan, Kamara, Conner, Gainwell, Gainwell, Foreman, ZMoss, Chandler, McLaughlin, Murray WR—Jefferson, Hill, Adams, Allen, Tillman, Woods TE—Kelce, Kmet, Conklin PK—Butker DEF—PIT

Superflex 1:
QB—Mahomes, Rodgers, Mayfield RB—Bijan, Kamara, Allgeier, Singletary, Mostert, BRob, Warren, Rodriguez, Spiller WR—Chase, DJM, Devonta, MBrown, Myers, Reynold, Jones TE—Kmet, Likely, Kraft, Conklin, Hurst, Hudson PK—Elliott DEF—PHI

Superflex 2:
QB: Goff, Cousins, Wentz, White; RB: Bijan, BRob, ZWhite, Allgeier, McLaughlin WR: DJM, Higgins, JSN, Downs, RMoore, Atwell, SMoore, PCampbell, DPJ, ATP, Hutchinson, Iosivas, Devante, CJones TE: Ferguson, Kraft, Trautman, Tremble

I'd be fine moving 1.10 and maybe even a 2nd for a top tier QB. Rookies bust all the time. If you plan to draft a QB at 1.10 anyway, I'd prefer to trade the pick for a sure thing.

1.07 or multiple 1sts is too rich in a 1QB league. Wouldn't really entertain that, unless it was 1.07 for Mahomes or Allen, then even if the value isn't quite there, I'd still probably pull the trigger.

In general, I agree with this. That said, QB scoring in one of my 1QB leagues is enhanced, so they were the top scores year to year. I ponied up the 1.06 and 1.11 last year for Mahomes and won the title, even on his down year.

Look at where QBs finish in your league to determine how much of a boost you’ll get from shoring up this spot. You don’t start many players, so having studs in each is a must. Trading a later 1st to do so is fine, but you will have enough production from Stafford (and hopefully Watson) to wait on a player like Williams or Daniels to develop.
