Heres an offer I received when discussing trading for the 1.02.

Give : Waddle, Bijan, Pacheco, 25 1st, 26 1st
Receive : likely and 1.02

The other team told me he didnt have time for the back and forth when I asked if he though that was a fair trade.

Wow. We already have the worst offer we'll see in this thread, and its only January.

If he doesn’t have any time, he could’ve just typed “not trading the pick” faster than it took to send that offer.

In all fairness to the other guy, I'm sure he was not asked to come up with a fair offer. He was telling you what it would take for him to trade away 1.02. Fair or not, that was his price.

OBVIOUSLY if he thinks they're going to be late vs early that's a much easier trade, right?
If he's giving up 1.10 and 1.09 vs. 1.6 and 1.03 for example.

The deal in question is 1QB, so it’s basically Waddle=Nabers, then Pacheco/2025 1st/2026 1st for Laporta. Picks a year out have more uncertainty. Two years out and it could legitimately be anywhere. A lot changes.

The initial offer was very reasonable. Pick variance is an obvious variable that can swing how you view it, but is less protectable a year or 2 away. Things happen.

Big picture, the initial offer was a good starting point at worst. The counter was stupid.

Future picks you may have a sense or if they're going to be early or late.
Which can change the weight of the offer.

Yeah, that’s a response from the southbound end of a northbound horse. I’d seriously consider putting them on the “never trade with” list.
