Now let’s just pump the brakes a little on the Mahomes adoration meeting. The truly great QBs made chicken salad out of chicken ****. They lifted otherwise very mediocre players with their play. Look at what Brady had to work with for years and still got it done. Favre made stars out of FBOC Antonio Freeman and Bill Schroeder. Those are a couple of examples.

If you’re saying that Mahomes requires stud receivers to make their offense elite, then maybe Mahomes isn’t the generational stud that he’s purported to be.
OMGosh, are you seriously questioning Mahomes’ greatness after all we’ve seen from him for 6 plus years? Give me a break, dude 😂
Yeah I questioned him earlier this year when his attention was so split doing so many commercials and wondered about his attention to details in the offseason and caught a ration of crap for it. It’s looking like he bought into his own greatness and forgot the required attention to detail. It’s showing this season.
Well, he's arguably already accomplished more, individually and from a team perspective, in his brief career than Elway. And Elway was pretty good. So maybe all this negative talk based on a few substandard games should be quieted and we should just sit back and appreciate the greatness.

Who knows, maybe they even turn things around this year and add to the dynasty that they're currently enjoying.

At the end of the day, even great QBs need great talent and good coaching to play at an optimal level. Peyton, Brady, Brees, Favre....list goes on all played with elite weapons and had quality head coaches. When they were taken away, it was an adjustment.

Rashee Rice looks really promising. But the Chiefs need to find a talent who has a lot more upside to win those 1/1 matchups at will. That's the element Tyreek Hill brought that they haven't had since.
Mahomes had one of his best seasons last year and won the Super Bowl with no Tyreek.

The problem is that Skyy Moore and Toney are playing more snaps and are killing this offense with mental errors.
They could do it in the short-term, but it's problematic in the long-term. Plus, JuJu was at least passable last season as a secondary receiver. They 100% need that type of dynamic separation ability from someone going forward.
That was an entire season not a few weeks.

When you surround a QB with unreliable weapons that make mistake after mistake QBs play slower because they have to check if those guys are doing what they're supposed to before letting it rip. Things like throwing with anticipation become much less common and are a major weapon that elite QBs use to throw guys who aren't getting separation open (eg elevate a poor receiving corp).

Juju is a jag at this point in his career but he's never been a separation guy even when he had two healthy knees. He's a reliable player that does the dirty work. Mecole Hardman similarly is also a jag but is at least a functional WR.

Right now it seems like the only WRs Mahomes trusts is Kelce and possibly Rice.

We saw how much a similar issue impacted Jordan Love earlier this year when their young receiving core took their lumps while learning on the fly.

The only WR with an excuse in that regard is Rice and he's also the only one that seems to be learning.

My earlier point is that the truly great QBs have lifted the level at which all their WRs play, not just the very good to great players. I’m not sure that we’re seeing that out of Mahomes. I’m not knocking Mahomes’ talent, that’s indisputable IMO. Maybe it’s a leadership thing and extending higher expectations to those around them. Example - instead of busting Toney’s balls last night he’s bitching at the refs for calling an obvious penalty. I can tell you that Manning, Brady, Rodgers among others would have been right in Toney’s grill after that FU instead of throwing their helmet and then jawing at the refs for such a prolonged period afterward.

Can you actually back that up statistically though? What great QBs had better seasons than Mahomes' 2023 with less talent at WR? Rodgers, Manning, and Brady all had good to great WRs to throw to...for Mahomes this season it's Kelce and a wasteland.

Mahomes stinks, end of story. The amount of people caping for this guy is unreal. Dude can’t even throw for 50+ tds more than once, I mean c’mon bro.

Does Will Levis know he’s a QB? Begging for contact on every run.

Damn, that might have been an 85 yard TD pass to Achane if he hadn't slowed down mid-route.

Well, 31 points, but yeah. He was the MVP of the season last year for good reason.

What's with Heath being so casual, there? Pull it into your body, man. Great play by Love.

Lafleur keeps going to these trick plays with Reed, and they're not working. Really hate that call on the 2 pointer, based on how the last few plays like that to Reed have gone.

Going to sound arrogant but as long as they win the division I still think Chiefs are co favorites to win the AFC

I'm just not scared of going to Miami or Jacksonville

Ravens should be the favourite, if they get home field and the bye.

The Chiefs have a cupcake schedule the rest of the way, so they should win the division, and the Ravens have a tough one, though. The Chiefs could still somehow end up at home, the entire way through.
