Bryce Young or Brock Purdy?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Bryce Young or Brock Purdy?

Postby MajinMode » Mon Oct 09, 2023 12:22 am

6pt passing td superflex

Team has been slow out of the gate but should be able to go on a run. Guy seems interested in a Bryce for Purdy swap(I’m sure there will be some extras involved in the end) Purdy is def a win now guy and also a young qb so he would help me push. I like Bryce but I need a more capable qb2. What do y’all think?

Obviously Young has started slower than managers would hope. But it's not entirely unexpected. I'd need something pretty good coming back with Purdy to do that deal. Not against moving Young, just against selling low.

I kind of don’t know if it’s really selling low if the deal was straight up. Purdy is literally at the level we are waiting for Bryce to be at. I’m torn on the deal bc I like Bryce a lot long term but my qb2 in SF is flipping between Jimmy G and Bryce so I’m not getting much help there.

I still think Young has big potential and has the name value to an extent but he is also a gamble from what we have seen. Purdy is the much safer option without the name and ceiling. Purdy is the way to go but there is the risk it ages poorly over the years.

The only thing about Purdy that worries me is his weapons. The 49ers are only able to have a stacked offense because Purdy does not make any money. That will not always be the case.

Not trying to be argumentative, just to further understand since I am pretty surprised by these responses.

Have folks soured on Young this much? Or were you guys this high on Purdy going in to the season? Or has Purdy jumped up in ranks because he's shown it again (which he has)? Young was pretty consistently a top-3 pick in SF rookie drafts. I don't recall anyone saying Purdy was worth that. But maybe I'm "misremembering".

I guess I'm hesitant to judge Young on such a small sample size and on a team that cannot run the ball at all.

If you take out that Young was drafted first overall and Prudy was last and just looked at their play its hands down Brock. He also has better weapons around him and a much more stable franchise.

that high on brock headed into the season. think i took him in every startup i did besides one. he was a qb1 last year (finishes of qb18,qb8,qb14,qb13,qb9,qb5) and then picked up right where he left off (qb10,qb24,qb13,qb11,qb7)

hes just so freaking safe and has high upside in an absurd offense. has nothing to do with young or thinking he stinks.

It was the injury concerns that largely held back folks getting too high on Purdy. My only concern with him now is that if the luster starts to fade a little, his pedigree is of the sort that SF wouldn’t hesitate to grab a QB with a bigger name.

And Young and Carolina have just looked SO bad.

We can argue all week about how Young could do what Purdy was doing if he had the same caliber of team, but he doesn’t. Carolina has no 1st next year, etc… It’s going to be a couple years if ever. Bird in hand. I’d rather have Purdy.

2024 - 3 1st rounders... Picks 1.5, 1.7, 1.11… 2 2nds 2.17, 2.19 1 3rd 3.31…

I was thinking of starting a similar thread last night after the game. Purdy seems so underrated right now but I fear what would happen if McCaffrey was to miss some time! He is just crazy hot right now.

I would have been more positive on Young had Carolina not traded their next years round 1 pick. He clearly needs better WR but for now Thielen should give some good numbers.

I think it’s Purdy for the next two years.

No I’m still thinking it over. Thinking I’m probably going to try to hammer it down for Purdy today. I know the other manager is interested in doing it already but he is probably unsure as well.
