Big trade offer or hold?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Big trade offer or hold?

Postby Prison_Mike » Wed Oct 04, 2023 6:19 pm

Team 2 - 12tm PPR SF 0.5-TEP

Have gone back and forth with this trade partner enough to know the pieces each other is interested in. He’s looking to rebuild, has stated in the league chat that everyone is for sale

I tried hard to move some combination of London/1sts for an elite WR, which is what my roster really needs, (though maybe I’ll get that with Kupp coming back), but it appears as though that’s not in the cards right now

Would you make the following deal to add depth & upside rather than trading multiple assets for one stud? :

Give: London + Njoku + (x2) ‘24 late 1sts
Get: Pitts + Javonte + Hollywood + E.Moore

I figure:
London = Pitts - both stuck in the same terrible situation
E.Moore = Njoku - balances out the positions, equal value
x2 late 1sts = two productive players, but not elite and loses upside

Unexpected update:

Ironically, this owner sent me an offer last night (5 days after this post) that was almost identical to the offer I had in mind.

Give: London + '24 1st (mid/late) + '25 1st (mine, probably late but who knows)
Get: Pitts + Hollywood + Javonte

I think the Pitts/London swap cancels out, but while I still think Hollywood and Javonte are each worth a single late 1st, I think there's gotta be a better way to spend two 1sts

It's hard for me to get excited about any of the pieces you're getting back. Pitts is in an offense that doesn't use him; Javonte is on the Broncos; E. Moore doesn't seem to be blossoming in CLE; and Hollywood will not be a consistent producer in ARI. I'd hold your side.

I'd easily hold what you have here. None of the players your getting in return do anything for you, if your contending I'd use the picks for a player that will start for you.

At this point, the 1st is the most exciting piece and while London is up and down and will likely have a disappointing year, I would still rather have that side. 1sts always gain value even if it's for a short time before the NFL draft. Hard to say if any of the other pieces do.

I would hold here pretty easily. There really isn’t anything coming back that I’d give up London and the 1sts for. London and Pitts being in the same situation makes it a bit closer, but I’d rather bank on London long term.

That's where I'm at, I still like Javonte long-term, and I love what Hollywood is doing from a consistency standpoint this season, but I'm not winning a championship because of any of these 3 players this season, while all of them have the potential for their value to continue to dip, which is something I can't say for 1st round picks.

He keeps coming down on the price when I decline. He just sent the final offer and I'm intruigued as I would keep London, but the problem that there's no real difference maker still exists.

Give: '24 1st (late) + '24 1st mid/late + '25 1st (mine, probably late) + '25 3rd
Get: Pitts + Javonte + Hollywood + Dell

Thoughts on this offer?

One pick is mine (5-0), one pick is from a 3-2 team that probably makes the playoffs (not a strong contender), '25 1st is my pick and I don't think my team is going anywhere as a strong contender (see below, Team 2)
Team 1:
12-team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF

RB: Taylor, Saquon, Javonte, Conner, C.Evans, TDP
WR: Chase, Aiyuk, Olave, Diggs, Diontae, Hollywood, MT, Shaheed
TE: Engram, Woods, Kraft
'24 picks: 1.08, 3.05

Team 2:
12-Team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF
QB: Mahomes, Allen, Russ
RB: Breece, JT, Swift, Javonte, Mostert, Zamir
WR: Chase, Aiyuk, Nico, Kupp, Hollywood, Kirk, MT

WR: Jefferson, AJB, ARSB, Nico, Diontae, OBJ
TE: Goedert, Njoku, Fant, Woods

Can't believe people still are so high on javontae... how many rb do we need to watch outproduce him on the same team before we concede that he just isn't as good as we hoped...

Genuinely asking, how many have?

Yr1 - matched MG3 - Both had 203 carries. MG = 918RuYds/213RecYds; JW = 903RuYds/316RecYds
Yr2 = JW shreds his knee, tearing his ACL/LCL/PLC

Yr3, presumably still recovering from an injury known to take a year+

I can understand making the argument that it's never going to happen for him. But it's not like he's been outproduced by a list of guys while healthy, right?

He's also never out produced anyone... he's been ranked as a top 5 dynasty rb and was supposed to be the guy... and even before his injury, he was not able to make a big enough jump to keep Gordon off the field in what was almost an even split, and then he gets hurt, latavius comes in, and within like three games, takes over as the lead guy and they let Gordon go....
Then this year, while yes he is probably still getting his legs back, he is presumably healthy, and it's not like he had a solid guy like Dalvin cook behind him, and he's still getting outproduced by an undrafted rookie, and perine, who both have looked much better
Not saying he has no value... but all this hope of a guy being ranked with the liked of breece hall and Barkley, I'm over it... he's nothing special in my opinion
I'm def not giving up 2 firsts in this deal..
