I'd like to see heinikie honestly, I don't think he can be worse than ridder.
Yeah, it's a great question. We thought they'd be in the mix last year for one of the Bryce / Stroud / AR tier of QB's, but they quickly proved they were keen to exceed expectations and play "keep away" bully ball with Mariota. (Remember when C-Pat was killing everyone in fantasy with his insane age 31 breakout? Those were the days)

The good news is that there are a LOT of QB's in next years draft that could prove "serviceable enough" to be a massive upgrade on the absolute poop-tier QB-ing they are getting right now. The top two guys - Caleb Williams, Drake Maye - are probably out of reach... but I think most here would agree that a dice-roll on the unknown upside of guys like Shedeur Sanders, Quinn Ewers, Bo Nix, Penix, hell, even JJ McCarthy... any of those names give you more reasons for optimism than Ridder.

Add to that Kirk Cousins going to the highest bidder, Kyler Murray potentially being in trade talks if ARI decide to cut bait, and who else knows... there could be a few guys floating out there. Again: anything is an upgrade at this point.

Agreed that we see Taylor Heineken soon, too. Surprising it's not this week... but also would be good poetry if it's Week 6 vs. Washington, his old team.

I won't be upset if both Smith and ridder are gone then
I'm still pretty keen to see what happens when Arthur Smith gets a real QB.

The scheme suggests he's got good stuff going on - the amount of WIDE OPEN Pitts and Drake overthrows plus the air yards (prayer yards) data and off-target/uncatchable throw rates suggest it's really not a problem of the scheme. It's a QB / accuracy one. I think he's calling these run-heavy game plans because he's playing the cards he's been dealt. That's what good coaches do - they fit the playcalling to the players.

He resurrected Ryan Tannehill when we all thought his career was dust, post-Miami. He can get good play out of middling QB's. He just can't get starter-level play out of non-NFL QB's, which is unfortunately what he has been rolling with for 2 seasons straight now.
How do they plan on getting one of these real QBs? I guess next available one (non rookie) would be cousins? Maybe a brissett or minshew?

I’d venture to guess at their pick range next year or even in the 2nd there will be some guys available infinitely better than Ridder (was NEVER a fan)

What a terrible game so far. It couldn't be much worse if they started showing the box where Taylor Swift was last night, 15 times a quarter.

BTW, I rail on officiating when it's bad, but great job by the official to not blow the whistle on that long play, that did get called back. Close plays, let it play out, that's what replay is for. It was an inch from being the right call on the field, and it was the right call to overturn it, but by letting it play out, you have the option to correct it, whereas if you call the player down, and he wasn't, you can't correct that.

Really wish Geno had done the smart thing and just batted that ball down. Not sure what he was thinking. Hope he's OK. They have a bye next week, as long as it's not a tear, he might be OK in a few weeks.

What player, with the ball in their hands, as a ball carrier - thinks to themselves "I'm about to get my knee twisted" before any defender has arrived?

It's random. He was trying to make a play. Injuries happen. No use admonishing him for trying to be a football player, imo.

As a 32 year old QB with non elite running skills, I don't see why he does it. Making a play is living to play the next down. There was no big play there, QB's are trained to knock it down. He never had to have the ball in his hands in the first place, that's the point. You bat the ball down, and go on the next play. I hope his career isn't derailed because of it, I am legitimately pulling for Geno, and hope he escapes without a major injury. Guarantee you he knows he should have done it, it's not like I'm saying something that isn't known, here. QB's are taught to do that, for a variety of reasons. The likely loss of yards you take, which happened, and potential for injury.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Glad to see Geno back. As I said, it would have sucked to see him lose out due to a quick "era" in judgment.

Lock I’d imagine would pickup where Geno left off of anytbing were to happen to Geno in the future. Seattle is very QB friendly it seems.

Giants are a disaster. That contract, MAN, are they regretting that DJ extension right about now.

It has, but Jones, even when he does have time (not often), hasn't been it. He still has no feel in the pocket for pressure from behind. That fumble tonight he held the ball way too long. Pick 6 he made the wrong read. The OL IS, a disaster, but DJ isn't the answer, either.
