Controversial Trade
I am looking for opinions on this controversial trade. This is a 1 QB Dynasty league. Team A is working hard to justify the trade, mostly from one trade calculator that has it someone close because of JT's injury status, and is upset the rest of the league is on the verge of vetoing the trade. Obviously he is trying to get JT on the cheap right now, but he seems to believe this trade is fair and is the consensus amongst dynasty players and so I told him I'd go outside the league to here and see what that consensus truly is. I should add bad trade history of this player doesn't help matters either. Maybe me and the others are wrong, though I don't think so. IF so, then so be it. Thanks for any input.

Re: Controversial Trade
Let people run their teams. Taylor is already missing the first 4 games this year. What happens if he decides he's "hurt" and misses the whole year? You don't know what will happen. Don't veto. That shouldn't be allowed in a league. Plus, if Team A has a history of "bad trades", his team isn't that great anyway so I'm curious what trades that would be. Cut the drama out, move on.

Re: Controversial Trade
Absolutely terrible trade, but I’d play in a league that allowed (but probably be a bit grumpy that I didn’t skin the fish first) and I’d quit on the spot a league that vetoed it.

It sucks, but this is what you have to do. You should probably eliminate vetoes altogether.
You should provide Team B with some resources. I.e. trade calculators OTHER than the one Team A used to sell him on this trade, forums like DLF or r/dynastyff, rankings, etc. Help him understand player values in dynasty. It would help him while also helping the entire league. One manager providing a select few with long-term advantages via trade is bad for your league overall. I understand that that's what you're trying to accomplish with trade vetoes, but vetoes allow for too much bias. ("I'm the #1 team and that trade makes the #2 team better, I'll vote no")
Re: Controversial Trade
Don't police trades unless you have proof of collusion. Their team, their choice
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts
Re: Controversial Trade
I believe some trades are veto-worthy from a fair Commissioner's pov. I don't believe in vetoes by vote.
This trade is not a great trade for TeamB, but I could see how TeamB might feel this is a good enough trade to accept. Outside of proof of collusion, this trade should pass.
Lastly, I have no sympathy for managers who complain that a team traded a player to a strong team for too little in return. If any managers wanted the player who was traded (JT in this example) they should have made their own d*mn offers. Tell the other managers to shut up and manage their own teams.

Trades like this often happen between friends or acquaintances, where Team B wouldn't even have given fair consideration to other offers. So the gray area is: okay you can't prove collusion, but it's widely known that Manager A is more likely to accept a trade offered by Manager B
No idea if that's what happened here. I'm just saying I've seen it many times where this exact scenario played out, and the team getting the bleep end of the stick trusted the other guy, and the other guy took advantage of that.

Re: Controversial Trade
It's a bad trade, but I don't think it's veto worthy. Worst case, if that owner consistently makes awful, league killing moves, you should consider removing him so that team doesn't end up in bad shape.
But like others are saying, Rodgers upgrades his QB and Conner gives him an available starting RB. I don't know why he wanted Mooney though. But, if Taylor doesn't play, this move could help him noticeably for this year.
There's a very real chance Taylor doesn't play much this year, so that opens the door for some redraft style trades in dynasty like this one.

Re: Controversial Trade
On rookie draft day this year (SF 10 team league) a team traded Burrow, their 2024 first and Aaron Jones for the 1.02 (Richardson) and Njoku. It is a friends league and we were all in the same room. I was aghast to say the least. The leaguemate who traded Burrow was the one who offered the initial deal and apparently the other owner didn't have to do much/any negotiating. I tried to as politely as possible ask how this all transpired. Turns out the owner just loved Richardson, didn't care about Aaron Jones and didn't see Burrow as elite.
That trade is 1000% worse in my mind that the trade in this thread and at no point would I have considered getting the league to intervene (we don't have a veto rule for trades). Agree the JT owner got fleeced but he did get some reasonable value back. I don't think it has league altering implications and you just have to live with it.

Re: Controversial Trade
You should do one of two things:
(1) if this was collusion, the trade should be vetoed and the two owners replaced
(2) if it was not collusion the trade should go though.
If you are concerned that manager B is being taken advantage of, introduce them to some podcasts and resources.

Re: Controversial Trade
Yeah that’s the tough one and definitely a grey area. I do think it’s borderline collusion to have an owner who only trades with their friend, especially if they get hosed because their ‘friend’ can call them up and sweet talk them into a deal but nobody else can do that. I would pin the collusion on their ‘friend’ for knowing and exploiting this.Pac_Eddy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:01 amI'm in a league like that. I have quite a few leagues with a mix of my longtime friends in them. I’ll admit, some of them trade with me more than others because owner owners send them garbage offers and I send fair deals. With those owners I like to run them through the DLF trade calculator and show similar value to them and screenshot it for the league just in case.
