Redraft or WinNow Team: Which TE You got? Rookie or low-end TE1 veteran?

The thread about Rookie TEs coincides with the end of a slow on-line draft for a redraft team for me. I've been solidly in favor of a TE7-10 veteran to be my starter over a highly-touted rookie. But if I were to consider one of the rookies it would be Musgrave or LaPorta or Meyer.

So here we have a six pack of TEs, from which to choose two. I probably won't draft a back-up, but I want to give everyone two choices to get a better feel for which way to go. And I might end up going Vet and Rookie, so I want to see the top vote getter among both.

13 TEs have been drafted so far. Every team has one TE except me. I probably won't draft my first for a couple more rounds, but here are the best available vets so far: Higbee, Chig, Kmet, Juwan Johnson, Irv Smith.

I don't see Okonkwo on the list but he is mentioned in the post. I would go with him or take the gamble on Irv Smith Jr in a good system with a great QB.

I don't like the idea of a rookie TE really outside of Kincaid. Worth monitoring the 3 on the board, but I wouldn't burn a redraft spot on them for now

Finally getting to the point where I think I'm going to take my first TE, at the 12.14/13.01 turn. Kmet and Laporta have been taken off the table.

Every other team now has at least one TE and one has two TEs. The guy with two got rookie fever and took Kincaid+Laporta. I think the action on TEs will diminish significantly. Because I'd be equally satisfied with three or four of the guys remaining in the poll (and Chig), I may wait until the 14.14/15.01 turn to take my first TE.

This is a league with IDP and I really want to get Bolton to go with TJWatt and Pitre. Bolton+Pitre gave me a constant advantage in the defensive positions that led to a championship for me last year. And I'd like to use the other pick on one of Hull/Allgeier/Singletary/Hodgins for depth.

I'm sure I'll still have a few options from my TE poll list at the 14/15 turn, but I'm not sure any of those RBs I mentioned will be there at that time. But there are 14 picks before my 12/13 turn, so I'll have a better idea of how things are shaping up by then.

The one TE I really want 12/13 is Juwan. I have a feeling he could have a breakout year with Carr who loves to throw to his TEs. It seems like a case of talent and situation meeting at the perfect point. If Juwan is gone, I'll probably wait till 14/15 and take Irv or Musgrave or Otton or...

You may end up being right. I had Juwan lined up to be my 2023 TE, and the guy right before me took him. So I pivoted and took Bolton with Allegier instead of a TE. I'll get a TE 28 picks from now.
Now I think I'm taking one of Higbee/Irv/Chig. Everette is also still there and I'm wondering about how he'll do in Kellen's offense.

So what happened was ...

12/13: Like I said earlier, the guy immediately before me took Juwan. I declined taking any TE.

I settled on Chigo being my TE, but someone took him midway to my picks. Several other guys from the poll (Higbee/Musgrave/Mayer/Irv) were still available. I wasn't excited by any of those guys because I see a decent floor with a possibility for an actual midling reality. Instead I fixated on a new wildcard.

14/15: I took Isiah Hodgins and Jake Ferguson. I don't see Furgenson's floor as much lower than the other guys in the poll. And I think there's a chance Fergunson approaches Dalton's production in Dallas because Dak historically focuses on TE no matter who is there. If I'm wrong, some of the guys I listed above will be available on the WW.

I have two picks remaining and may take another TE. I have to take a K with one of the picks, but I'm undecided about the other being RB or TE.

I went WR with my first three picks in a no-ppr league that leans heavy RB the first round, so we'll se how that works out. Last year it won me the title, when 4th round Rhamondre held down the RB position. This year, JCook is my 4th round RB, so we'll see if he produces. It's a 2RB/2WR/TE/FLX league, so I'll start only 2RBs each week, except possibly to cover byes.

Because I had the 1.14, I have the first choice on the WW. If a RB or TE surprises in week 1, I'll be able to get him.

To my great disappointment, JJ and Chig are gone. Everett remains and I wouldn't mind turning to him but I want to shoot for upside first. I think I can get Everette off the ww if I need to.

I got Ferguson a around ago, and am about to add Musgrave when my pick arrives soon. Everyone else is filling in IDP at this point, so no danger I get sniped.

So I go into week one with Ferguson+Musgrave. That's not what I envisioned, but I'm embracing it for now. Either could surprise. And if not, the ww awaits.
