Trade Lance for... a (proverbial) bag of balls?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade Lance for 3.01 and Chase Claypool

Yes. The ride wasn't fun but at least it's over.

Nope. You got on this ride and you should just stay on until the bitter end.

Trade Lance for... a (proverbial) bag of balls?

Postby Avery » Wed Aug 23, 2023 8:44 pm

Team 2 below.

I got an offer of:
3.01 + Chase Claypool for Trey Lance

I know what the right answer is, but I was excited to get this guy last year and it's just taking me a minute to come to terms... so a push in the right direction would be helpful.

Thanks! :wall:

LOL. I started answering this question like it was SF and then looked at your team. Lance shouldn't be owned in any 1QB league. There are plenty of interesting players to own around the 3.01 in '23 rookie drafts. I'm for sure making this trade.

In a 1qb league lance should be on the WW. The fact you can get a draft pick and a player that could be useable at some point is a huge win.

Thanks all. I think I already knew the answer just needed to get some push in that direction.

Although I think he was drafted as a developmental quarterback who the team refused to develop, got hurt, and still think has upside, his best case scenario is being behind some vet and given a chance to start a year or two down the road.

As much as I (still) like his upside, in this league, with these roster sizes, he just isn't worth waiting on.

I would hold and see if he gets traded. The pick is not good and neither is Claypool. I get it but all pieces are droppable, why not hold and see if he gets traded?

I could see the rational behind this. Think Lance still has the most upside of any of these three pieces. But god those are all rough pieces.

Appreciate it! My thought is you are essentially not getting anything for him, so what is the point of just dumping him. He has way more upside than Claypool + even if it never happens. The OP will not miss Claypool +.

Bag of balls is the going rate.

If I had Lance, the return is so low right now just hold until he either gets traded, released, or there's someone better on the waiver wire.
