If JT leaves Indy…

Postby Shcritters » Wed Aug 23, 2023 4:00 am

Then who is the back to own there? It would be a huge boost for ARich (I think) in the running game, but who then becomes the RB to own?

I could see it. A veteran who knows how to block and protect his QB. A guy who will grind and who can catch. And probably most important to ownership, Retirement Lenny won't cost much and will accept a one-year deal.

Big win for all the LF shareholders.

Big hit for the whole offense, not that I expected much this year anyway. No1 available is as dynamic as a healthy Taylor. It's probably Moss, or a FA. Lenny makes sense. As would Hunt.

Still think Taylor plays. Not sure anyone will give up a first in today's NFL. This felt like a "sure, go see how invaluable to everyone else you are" play.

This wouldn’t help ARich AT ALL. He is already at high risk as it is.

The answer is no one. Sure there will be a between the 20s runner and that could be a mix of Jackson and Hull. Or maybe Hunt or Lenny. But based off AR’s college history he isn’t going to check down enough or concede goal line touches to boost up any RB.

Sure there will be some spot weeks where one RB goes off but I don’t believe it will be consistent. Look at the Bears last year. Neither Montgomery or Herbert were consistently in your lineup.

Irsay has too big of an ego to complete a trade that doesn't make it look like Indy "won" the deal. I just don't see anybody giving the Colts the draft capital Irsay wants for public perception. JT will play, he won't be happy and it is going to be an ugly year in Indy.

Agree - if JT goes (who I have) I want nothing to do with it.

Hull is a solid player. One of the top receiving backs in this class. Could see him having low flex value.

Fournette or Hunt seem like the most obvious answers in terms of experienced plug and play. Maybe Zach Moss, Deon Jackson or Kenyan Drake from the existing roster. I'm just not sure about Hull as a very late 5th rounder and then you are trusting 2 rookies in the backfield... too risky. Plus, I think Hull catches well but is a bit of a plodder.

It would be a mess, likely a vet added. Aside from JT, Hull is who I want right now in that backfield. Handled a heavy load in college (17% target share, 36% DR). Decent size, and good athlete as well. I have been touting Hull for a bit as an underrated player. Would be cool to see him pay dividends, but not holding my breath. I doubt JT leaves this year anyways

JT will make $4,304,000 this year. Then ~10-11mil next year on the tag. I don't see any vet signing (Hunt/LF) for less than 4mil.

There's zero incentive for IND to trade Taylor.

This is a cat and mouse game by IND.

I'm sure they would trade him if they got a 1st.

They're not getting a 1st though

If you want to truncate Richardson’s career, put a rookie in at RB to protect the rookie QB. IMO they’d need to sign one of the remaining vet FAs
