We added two friends in what’s now a 14-team league.
Last year we had 8-teams playoffs with a 4-team losers championship.
This year the proposed seeding would still be an 8-teams playoffs, but I was wondering what format do you guys use in a 14-team league?

The 14tm leagues I'm in all have 6 teams make the playoffs, with the top two seeds receiving a first-round bye. The other 8 teams participate in a losers' playoff.

In both my 12 and 14 team leagues only 6 makes the playoffs. I think this is good. Gives the top 2 something of value (a bye).
My ideal format for 14 team: top 6 make playoffs, top two get first round bye. Other 4 playoff teams play a one week all play, with top 2 scorers moving on. Then the remaining four teams play a two week all play.
The bottom 8 teams that don't make the playoffs play a three week toilet bowl for some type of prize.

i like play each team once and play one random team a 2nd time and then top 4 by record get in and then the next 2 by all play get in. i dont think over half the league should make playoffs but its not the worst either

Thanks all. I don’t hate the fact that 6 teams make playoffs, but last 6-7 years we were 12 and 8 made playoffs so I think that adding 2 teams overall and also removing 2 from playoffs will be hard to accept for many.

I think it's fine to do whatever the league feels good about. But I think a compromise that would work well would be to have all 8 playoff teams go to an all play, and have the top 4.scorers move on. In both of my 14 teams leagues, 6 teams make playoffs. In one, it's top 5 records with the final playoff spot going to most points for the regular season. The other is strictly top 6 by record, with tie-breakers as needed.
In the league with the 6th playoff by points for, we play each other team once and week 14 is an all-play, top 7 scores get a win.
