JT buy low or nah?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

JT buy low or nah?

Postby BabyChark23 » Tue Aug 01, 2023 9:03 am

12 team 2QB PPR

Give: JK Dobbins, Miles Sanders

Get: Jonathan Taylor

The JT owner is a contender with an aging team that needs to make a strong push this year. He’s panicking about the JT drama going on. I have a very young team just starting to come out of a rebuild. This is the first year that I have a reasonable chance to compete. If I did this, my RB room becomes Taylor, Gibbs… Jerome Ford. Some major depth issues there in a start 2RB. I think I prefer Taylor here, but the depth concern has me pausing. What do you think?

Taylor for me. It's always supposed to be Sanders year but will it actually be and Dobbins is already sidelined in training camp. I still have hope for Dobbins but the shine is definitely coming off. I know there is a lot of time until lineups are set, but I am already concerned with the reports involving Dobbins. I will gamble on the only known elite asset here and that is Taylor.

I wouldnt say its an overpay. Buying a few extra RB1 years (hopefully) for Burks is a solid trade off

It's a lot closer to me than everyone else. I'm not a big fan of paying up for any running back, no matter how good. Dobbins and Sanders should both be able to fill a starting spot for your team. The drop off from losing 2 players will be greater than the potential gain in Taylor.

Having said that, I think this is Sanders last sell window. Coming off a career year, with little to no RB competion. Next year he will be seen as a late 20s RB, on a team that has a contract out the following year and people won't give anything of value for him. I still think he has a strong 2 years left though...

Dobbins is a headache. The potential is still great imo but he's never available.

I'm not worried about Taylor missing time. He's going to get the itch and he will play this season.

Honestly I would look for other deals. I just don't feel like it's worth it.

Taylor doesn't have an option of holding out, barring faking an injury. He and pretty much everyone knows his best option is to come out and show he's healthy and dominant so he can be extended or moved next season. Like it or hate it, this it the landscape for RBs in the NFL currently.

I like this price for JT. Dobbins and Sanders are a lot of hope, but unreliable. I had Dobbins as my RB1 in his class due to his receiving upside ... But I'm over his injuries.

Like I said I'm not worried about Taylor holding out, that's not why I would pass. Imo the loss of youre 2nd starting spot is greater than the gain of the first and getting Taylor. Also putting all of your eggs in one basket with 1 rb as opposed to 2. If something happens to Taylor, like an injury, you've given up 2 players for 0.

I just don't think these types of deals are worth it unless you have the ammo to pull them off. And in this case OP does not.
