Lamar+ Vs Tua+ (SF)

Have an offer in my inbox of sending my Adams, Akers & Tua for Lamar & Christian Watson. It’s a 12 standard PPR, .25 PPC SF league. Team 1 in signature. My thinking is that I’m not sure what to expect from Watson & losing Akers would bring me to only 3 somewhat reliable RBs. Multiple calculators (for what that’s worth) says I’d be winning the trade. What do you guys think?

Lamar is worth those guys by himself in SF. Watson no matter how he does is a bonus.

Having Herbert and Jackson in a 2QB is a nice problem to have. If Watson can get back to his old self that’s a bonus and you could flip him mid season if needed

It’s Christian Watson if that changes anything, should have specified

I like the deal a lot long term, but I think it's hurts your build overall in the immediate. Akers is a risk, but you need him. I think you can sustain losing Adams based on your WR core, but it will be tough to make up his points. Great deal long term but hurts this year.

I think the gap between Tua and Jackson is much closer than most.

What's really tantalizing here, though, is the 0.25PPC. I haven't played in that format before, so I'm asking / guessing: that's a huge bump for a QB like Jackson, right?

It's very tempting to take the trade. Like other said, to contend in 2023 you almost need Akers -- or to replace him after he's gone. No way will Watson match what Adams did in 2022, but I think Watson will be steady enough. And with a new QB (and possibly another different QB after Jimmy goes down with his yearly injury,) it's likely Adams won't match his numbers from last year.

Ultimately, I think this trade boils down to what every conversation about Tua comes down to. Your risk tolerance for a future concussion. If you think it's likely Tua misses significant time in 2023, you should make this trade. If you think it's likely Tua's risk of time missed because of injury is the same as any other QB, you should hold not make this trade.

That's it. Don't worry about reading the tea leaves of the other players. The only reason you're even considering this trade is you worried about Tua's health. It's worthwhile to drag that elephant out into the light, review your concerns, and make a decision based solely on how you feel about Tua's health.

If Tua and Lamar play the entire season, I think their numbers will be relatively close enough that there won't be a material difference for fantasy. Even in your scoring system. If they're both healthy all year, there's no reason to downgrade at the other positions to make this swap.
