Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
It's that time of year again when coaches say this and that, and "rumor is" headlines appear.
Don't fall for that. Coaches will always talk up their players and so may owners for a variety of reasons. It doesn't mean anything towards their value and should be ignored.
I'm seeing too many "Ron Rivera said Gibson is going to be used more" posts, for example. I'm not buying it. How many times have we seen Pete Carroll say something amazing about one of this players?
Don't fall for it.

Gibson has the talent so I don't understand why they wouldn't utilize him more.

Having Robinson plod for 3.9 ypa makes their offense much more dynamic.YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 12:15 pm Gibson has the talent so I don't understand why they wouldn't utilize him more.
That said, Bienemy is the OC so there may be some fire to this smoke even though this is rose colored glasses season.

Precisely. Only so many times I can watch him bust up the middle for 3 yards and fall forward for the rest. At least Gibson danced a bit before getting tackled after 4 yards.Bronco Billy wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 12:27 pmHaving Robinson plod for 3.9 ypa makes their offense much more dynamic.YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 12:15 pm Gibson has the talent so I don't understand why they wouldn't utilize him more.

Re: Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
So you wanna rely on Bienemy, former OC of the Chiefs and their track record of reliable RB hype, to predict what precisely? If your money is on Rodriguez because he is a late round darkhorse and will defy all thoughts of draft capital etc then you are making some persuasive arguments.YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 1:13 pmPrecisely. Re: Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
Rodriguez doesn't look like an NFL starting caliber back. I mean, who knows, but Pacheco you could understand it, because of his size/speed combo. Rodriguez is the epitome of "plodder". He's just not very explosive, I think he's likely to be an afterthought, barring injuries. If he makes the team, of course.Yarnith wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 1:26 pmSo you wanna rely on Bienemy, former OC of the Chiefs and their track record of reliable RB hype, to predict what precisely? The RB room isn't very strong, but based on the players they have there, Gibson looks to be the passing down back, beyond that, who knows?

Re: Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
So do we ignore slo-mo videos of guys running 5 yard come back routes vs air, while running in shorts? Or do we believe that they are "looking impressive", or, "turning heads"?

Re: Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
I think it sounds like it's time for another Gibson prop bet. I still think he is the best RB on that team by a substantial bit and do kind of buy in that he is in play for leading the team in touches and that the offense is likely to be quite a bit better than last year making those touches more valuable for fantasy purposes.

Re: Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
If it's coming from beat writers and coaches in detail, I'm likely to buy into it.
If it's just a generic "so and so is going to have a big role" and "they're special" then it's just regular stuff.

He was able to use McKinnon effectively last year. Big difference between him and Gibson?Yarnith wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 1:26 pmSo you wanna rely on Bienemy, former OC of the Chiefs and their track record of reliable RB hype, to predict what precisely? Re: Ignore Coach Speak & Rumors
Its a joke man about how they spent a 1 on CEH then gave the ball to every one but him? The older or worse draft capital the better. May be a UDFA out there he can give 100touches to. Its a very KC thing to do.Pullo Vision wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 5:47 pmHe was able to use McKinnon effectively last year.
