This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Kmet. He has a lot to prove but has shown potential. 3rds have little value.

Perhaps this is a good thread to question how much action we expect for Kmet moving forward.

Chicago rarely threw the ball last season. A little over 22 passes/game. A 30% uptick gets them up to 28 passes/game. I would say there's no guarantee we see that kind of trend toward the passing game with Fields unless he makes a huge jump. Let's bump his completion % from 60 to 63. That leaves him at 17.64 completions per game to spread out between DJM, Claypool, Mooney, Kmet, Herbert and a different back, and any other players that find the field. That offense is going to need to see bigger increases than this from Fields and the passing game to make more than one of these guys terribly relevant.

Personally I think most everybody is selling Fields short as a passer. We are not talking Richardson here. He is very accurate and had a good rep coming out of college. His knock was recognition speed. In the pros he has had zero for receivers and a crappy offensive line with poor coaching. Him making a 3rd year jump as a passer like Hurts did would not surprise me in the least.

I don't trust Chicago or Fields to make a massive jump in passing production, but would still rather gamble on Kmet than a pair of 3rds.

I recently traded Kmett & Toney for Trey Lance on team #2 of my signature. I'd rank Kmett as a low end dynasty TE#1, with Greg Olsen like upside. I'd say his downside is probably Austin Hooper. I feel he's done enough to establish himself as valuable commodity. In terms of dynasty picks It would depend on my tight end group. But an early second seems about right to me.
Team One: Children of the Light
12 Team PPR- Superflex- Dynasty - Start 9

QB: Herbert, Watson, Young, Cousins
HB: Bijan, Etienne, J.Jacobs, Najee, D.Harris, J.Ford
WR: Olave, Smith-Njigba, Pittman, Jeudy, Jameson, A.Cooper, Cooks, P.Cambell, T.Marshall, Boutte (T.S.)
TE: Hockenson, Kmet, L.Schoonmaker, Likely (T.S.)
Picks: 2024 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd & 3rd

Team Two: One Nation
12 Team IDP- PPR- Superflex- Dynasy - 8 Offensive Starters- 1 DL, 1 EDR, 2 LB, 2 DB, 1DP (DL/LB/DB)

QB: Mahomes, Love, Lance, Purdy
HB: Chubb, Etienne, Akers, Dillion, J.Cook, P.Strong (T.S.), Z.White (T.S.)
WR: Waddle, Jameson, A.Cooper, “Bayou”.Michael.Thomas, Pickens, T.Marshall

This is the year for Kmet—boom or bust. If we improve the OL/WR (and we are) I think he can get more targets. I'd probably move him for an early 2nd, but am holding my shares right now. In most leagues where I have him I DID go get other TEs, in one league Kele and Pitts, in another, Ertz.

Sold him in one league for a late first last offseason, think he’s dropped a bit so I’d say mid 2nd but think his upside is pretty good, trouble is this class is a fairly deep one at TE so it may be best to go after a projected early/mid 24/25 2nd if you can’t get what you want now.

Zero chance is trade for any number of 3rds.

There are a few TEs in this draft I’d have equal to Kmet. If one will be there at 3.01, I would be fine getting them + future 3rd. A few pass catching options there + at best average pass volume. I can definitely see the appeal of this package. Frankly, you can use those picks to jump up into the 2nd for a quality rookie TE. That’s a swap I’d consider as well.

Every year there seems to be 4-5 pass catching tight ends coming out that never amount to anything. I think I would stick with a 6'7" guy with draft capital who gets targets and has no competition. I am so tired of the promise of Higbee, Nojoku, Smith, Henry, Fant, Engram, Everett, etc. Yes they have had a nice year once or so but not really guys you can count on. Most teams just dont throw to their TE very much.

The fact you have Kmet as seemingly well above the guys you mentioned, and consider him to be without competition, confuses me. I don’t think Kmet is it. Could be, but he’s not going to be any sort of difference-maker from my eyes.
