I mean, Lamar is still available. If you're going to pay multiple firsts, and a large cap hit for a QB, why not explore that option? The Packers will need the cap space before the Jets need Rodgers to practice. The money is guaranteed. While the wording allows them some options in terms of when it will hit their cap, they don’t have an option to just opt out and not pay it. Trading Rodgers gives a cap hit of just over $15M. Honestly, I think they might have had Lamar not been looking for a record breaking deal fully guaranteed, but then if he wasn't, he might already be signed in Baltimore.
