2023 Off-Season Trades

Postby Dr.Graffin » Sun Jan 08, 2023 6:57 pm

Considering most leagues, at least all of my leagues, are done now, it's the off-season imo. Just completed my first trade of the offseason for team 1 in my sig-non-ppr.

Sent: C. Okonkwo, 2024 draft class (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) picks
Received: D.K. Metcalf

Considering I was very close to winning it all this year, and the starting requirements aren't super deep, I think DK (nice buy low compared to his prices 2 years ago) is worth my future(hopefully late) picks to solidify my WR corp.

Here's to the off-season!
12 Team Non-PPR, 6pt TDs-22' R/U, 23' R/U
1QB, 2RBs, 2WRs, 1TE, 2Flex (W/R/T), 1K, 1DST
QB: P. Mahomes, R. Tannehill
RB: D. Achane, D. Henry, J. Mixon, A. Ekeler, M. Sanders
WR: T. Hill, D. Smith, D. J. Moore, D. Samuel, T. Higgins, D. Hopkins, O. Beckham, D. Wicks, J. Metchie
TE: T. Kelce, C. Kmet, H. Henry, M. Gesicki
K: J. Tucker
D/ST: Baltimore, Jacksonville
2024 Picks: 4.9

12 Team .5 PPR, 6pt TDs
1QB, 2RBs, 2WRs, 1TE, 3Flex (W/R/T), 1K, 1DST
QB: J. Love, J. Herbert
RB: S. Barkley, J. Cook, I. Pacheco, Br. Robinson, D. Singletary, D. Pierce
WR: D. J. Moore, J. Waddle, Z. Flowers, T. Higgins, C. Watson, J. Downs, J. Dotson, R. Shaheed
TE: T. McBride, H. Henry, M. Gesicki, C. Okonkwo, J. Woods
K: T. Bass
D/ST: Jacksonville, Indianapolis
2024 Picks: 2.7, 3.2, 4.11

It's fair value.

Not a fan of sending picks away for players right at the start of the off-season, even picks 2 years out. Players get hurt. QBs get hurt/underperform. Before you know it your 24' "late first" isn't looking as late as you thought and the season hadn't even started. It sucks not having your own 1st on a failed contender.

Would have rather roll into 2023 with the 24' 1st+2nd wait 2-4 weeks, *then* target a win-now piece that is 100% scoring pts in 2023 vs projecting now. See how your team is doing. +get to see if Chig Okonkwo is the real deal during those early weeks. Or he could even increase in value in the off-season pending Titans roster moves/the draft.

Just some food for thought. But DK Metcalf does seem like a safe asset at WR and a good position to build around.

not a fan of trading picks so far out, but it seems a good price for DK. his 3 whole yards in week 17 cost me a championship. enjoy!

Take any piece out and it's still an overpay. I do love Jameson though so hope he lives up to that value

Honestly, I could easily see this both ways.

Jameson himself is a huge unknown. With legit game-changing potential. I wouldn't be shocked if he develops into a top-10 WR nor would I be surprised if he's a glorified Gabe Davis. Still, his upside is completely there.

Trey Lance? Who knows if he'll be starting again at the beginning of 2023. He was an intriguing yet risky pick when he was drafted, and his career hasn't improved his stock at all. Bateman had a great skill set and profile but has yet to develop into anything more than a replacement-level player. Now, in a loaded draft, 1.11 and 1.12 are intriguing. And they still have, what, a 50% chance *at best* of being fantasy relevant.

Bottom line, all five pieces are question marks, and I'd also be hesitant to trade four question marks for one. But only Williams has that real tantalizing upside, and it's probable that none of the pieces given up ever gets close to that upside potential. I'm not sure I'd make the trade: I have a hunch I could get more from trading those four pieces in multiple trades. But I'm not sure against trading four question marks with middling upside for one question mark with elite upside. Just because I (we) might not do it doesn't mean it's a bad trade.

That is a truly terrible trade. Williams = Bateman + 1.11 is probably more fair market value, but I wouldn’t even pay that.

1.11 in SF after the 2023 draft could be something like Zach Evans, Sean Tucker, Michael Mayer, or Josh Downs.

Honestly Williams is closer to even with the 1.11 than anything else in my eyes, maybe being worth the 1.08-1.10 straight up?

As in you think he's worth +/- 3 firsts or you wanna sell him for that. I can't justify paying that much for a guy who despite his "upside" as a rookie wideout put up one reception regardless of what the surrounding circumstances were

That trade is at least 3.5 1sts worth of value in SF lol. Truly terrible.
