Deebo / Olave

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Deebo / Olave

Postby Tbeez » Tue Dec 27, 2022 2:46 pm

Made it to the finals (non-SF league) and looking to get an extra boost.

Would trade away Dameon Pierce and Olave for Mixon and Deebo.

Mixon would help me this week whereas Pierce (IR) and Olave (bench) are more long-term pieces.

I’m thinking of making the deal as Cook and Deebo will still help me contend next year.

Thoughts?

Long term, I prefer Olave over either Samuel or Mixon. I can not argue that the value is here but I am not sure I like that deal. Samuel took a big step back which was expected. Hard to say if he rebounds, but for me, Olave is the best piece in the deal. I prefer Mixon to Pierce but not enough to make this deal.

Making a move for one week I understand to get a title but this could really set your team back if Samuel does not get back on track next season.

Urrg.

That's a pretty reasonable deal. Olave is the best piece for sure. Pierce is a sell high if you can. Mixon is aging and Deebo is nowhere near what he was 12 months ago.

I'd do it if I was fairly sure it would win me the league. If I was unsure about that, I'd pass. Again - it's a totally solid deal.

I agree with making the deal if it looks to push you toward the chip. If it’s just a matter of closing the gap on a long shot, I’d rather keep Olave.

Guys - Joe Mixon is not a piece that solidifies a fantasy championship. He's been a mid-RB 2 all season outside of a 53 point game, and Deebo is doubtful to play.

First, there's no such thing as solidifying or guaranteeing a fantasy championship, this is a variance based game with no certainties. It'd be one thing if you were acquiring someone like Mahomes / Kelce / Henry / Hill - guys who are at least a very good bet to put up 25+ points most weeks - as that will likely increase your winning % by 10-20% over a replacement option. But Joe Mixon? You're trading away a young top10 dynasty WR for a very marginal one-week difference?

Easy pass.

I'd do it. It's gives you a much better chance to win today. It might probably give you a better chance to win 2023, though that "better" is not a certainty if Olave rises, Deebo drops, and Mixon starts to slow down. But for now, it looks at the least marginally better for 2023.
