Isaiah Hodgins: Miracle Near the Hudson

Postby Dynasty DeLorean » Sun Dec 25, 2022 1:48 am

1). 6’4” 210 lbs. Beast. Sasquatchian. Wingspan of a pterodactyl with 33” arms.

2) Super athletic. Testing numbers great except for the 40 which was 4.61, which isn’t fast but is fast enough. 10 yard split 1.58 which is actually quite speedy considering a 4.6 40. Good burst confirmed.

3) NY Giant 10” hands. As big as dinner plates. They catch errrryythangggg.

4) Very productive in college and early breakout age. Drafted.

5) Versatility. Can play inside and outside.

6) Very productive in the NFL once given the opportunity.

7) NFL production isn’t just fueled by volume. Per Player Profiler he is #10 in the NFL in Target Separation and #7 in the NFL in Route Win Rate. He’s getting targets and production because he’s good at football.

8) Depth Chart is lacking. Even if they draft someone high he will still have all the opportunity in the world.

9) Fountain of Youth. Is only 24 years young.

10) Maturity. Was married before he was in the NFL.

I am glad I grabbed him a few weeks ago, hopefully he can keep this going in 2023.

I didn't know he was drafted in 2020 by the Bills and eventually waived earlier this year. I assumed he was a rookie.

Not sure I would put getting married and having a kid young as a positive, I would have included that his dad won a Super Bowl with the Rams as a fullback.

Thanks for the tip. I was looking for a youngster to snag as the season came to a close. Now that I'm (hopefully) moving on to the Championship game, I'm thinking of cutting Thielen and picking up Hodgins. Now that I'm down to the final week, I won't need Thielen any more this season, and it seems kind of obvious that he's on the quick downslide of his fantasy usefulness.

If Hodgins hits, I'll feel like a genius (for listening to you.) If Hodgins flops, I can blame it all on you. It's a win-win!

This doesn't necessarily prove maturity. Just saying. I've seen plenty of people married young that are anything but.

I loved this kid his draft year, even more so than Gabe Davis. I’m glad he’s getting his shot in NYG

Sounds like exactly the type of thing someone who wasn’t married before they entered the NFL would say :nono:

It’ll be interesting to see how he handles the attention he’s sure to start drawing from opposing Ds. BUF clearly didn’t think very highly of him.

Picked him up recently but didn't have the guts to play him this week. It may keep me out of the championship unless Evans goes off today.

Picked him up in all of my leagues 3 weeks ago, when his snaps and target share started to build up steadily over 5 weeks or so. Wish I had played him this week over G. Wilson, but really, who would have.
I remember when him and Davis were drafted, there was a quote by Daboll that they were specifially looking for those "bigger types" to add to the offense. So maybe he was drafted for the same role as Davis, and as direct competition, and Davis just beat him out in BUF, and Hodgins is just now getting his chance in the NYG WR group. Looking good so far.

It doesn't matter what we want. Once we get it, we want something else.

I believe it was a joke about getting married lol (the #10 reason listed as a positive for him earlier in the post)

He's still on waivers in one of my leagues. I'm very tempted to drop Julio for him. I've had Julio since our league's start up draft in 2014 so I feel I'm holding on for sentimental reasons at this point...

You’re holding on for sentimental reasons. Drop Julio for either Hodgins or someone else.
