24 1st for a 25 1st?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Postby Platt22 » Thu Dec 01, 2022 5:15 pm

Some context: team 1 in sig. I am in 7th place rebuilding. Other team is 9-2 with a young squad. I have 3 24 1sts.

Would you trade my 25 1 for his 24 1?

Yes I would. You are rebuilding now but that pick is 3 years away.

Its a long way out but seems like your pick is more likely early. Coin flip but some seem very excited about the 2024 class already.

I'm not sure I would. It puts all your eggs in your winning basket. If you're still struggling in 2024 -- which is possible given your team and that 2024 picks likely will take some time to develop -- then that 2025 pick of yours will be early. And more valuable than the 2024 1st you're getting. If, though, you are a strong team already in 2025, then it's basically a pick swap. But you're not complaining since you're doing well.

I only see real risk here in case you're still a struggling team in 2025. I'd want something else on top of it.

whats your 2023 pick situation look like? Do you think that you can sell your players like godwin, cooper, zeke, kittle? 10 teamers tend to be about owning studs. owners don't usually sell studs..... in general, your gettting old but you have the 24 picks...i think you have the potential to be stuck in the middle and especially so if you cant move your productive guys in this 10 teamer. all that said...i would move my 25 up a year with out doubt. i am certain that you will be able to trade it for a proven player or back a year when its on the clock. As you sit here...that has a 1/10 chance of being 1.1 even better chances its a top 5. think you have to take it.

ya i would easily who the heck is like hey i think you will still stink in 3 years lmao. take advantage and move your pick up a year and have more ammo to use for next season (in the sense its easier to deal a 1st next year for strong value than it is to sell one 2 years out)

I am 50/50 on this depending on your 23 draft situation. For a 10 team league, I really don't like the look of this aging team. if those 4 1sts in 24 are paired with a few good picks in 23, then I think this is worth the gamble of you being able to compete in 24. If you are shy on picks for this draft and are not able to find away to trade pieces into it to get much younger for a full 23 rebuild, I could very well see you still rebuilding by the time 25 rolls around. I always tend to lean take the earlier pick though

Looks like you have a lot of rebuilding still to do. If you are aggressive about it then I think that trade is probably ok. But you have a lot of players you need to sell. Like all of them. So unless you are really committed to that and believe you can get market value for them I’d keep the 1st. You will lose a bunch of value on your players if you don’t move them soon. And then you will just have old players and a small handful of firsts. Not good.
