D'Andre Swift: Skilled but "soft"

Re: D'Andre Swift: Skilled but "soft"
Forget list our individual T5RB lists. Before Swift is anointed into the Ring of 5, can we do some serious discussion about, would you trade the following players in a 1:1 trade with Swift ...
R Stevenson
Najee
Etienne
Chubb
Jacobs
Sanders
I'm going over the lists and I'm scratching my head wonder who is seriously considering trading any of these guys for Swift straight up. Okay, maybe Sanders.
It's one thing to say a player maybe might could achieve something. It's another to say that today, Swift is a T5RB. He's not close to T10 for me. Still somewhere in that 15-20 range. If I rostered Swift, I'd be more hopeful than optimistic. If I didn't roster Swift, I wouldn't rush to pay post-trade prices for him unless I seriously had assets to burn.
I know this is a dynasty board but I think it's futile to rate Swift as a dynasty player because who knows if he'll have true value after this season. In redraft, Swift is probably no better than my RB18. And I think that's a reach for what his 2023 season ending stats will place him.
That's my campaign slogan for Swift for 2023: Hopeful, not Optimistic

If you’re in a rebuild, I could see moving Chubb for him… though I’d want something on top.Anteaters wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:52 pm Forget list our individual T5RB lists. I’ve got an offer of 1.06 and 2.01 in 12-team 1qb, and think I’ll run with the picks.
He’s in a contract year so he’ll be motivated to do well in a good situation, but chances are they don’t give him a new deal next year, and he was worth bugger all a few days ago, so this feels like the high point to sell.
(Helps also that I’ve got a bunch of useful RBs, and no picks so feels like a good deal)

Can't blame you there. Look at all the RB who just hit their 2nd contract. It's not good. Even an elite RB like Barkley isn't valued by his own teamrunCMC wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 1:28 am I’ve got an offer of 1.06 and 2.01 in 12-team 1qb, and think I’ll run with the picks.

The Saquon situation is infuriating. Screw the franchise tag. So many better offenses out there he could have super-charged.
But yeah if Swift was on my roster right now, he wouldn't be much longer. Never was a believer, but they're definitely out there.

Re: D'Andre Swift: Skilled but "soft"
Call me crazy but I’m not moving him for any pick outside of 1.05 in 1QB. Maybe 1.06 and 2.01 gets it done. That’s a really solid offer but this was a brutal draft weekend for any pick after 1.05-1.06 in 1QB. The NFL just didn’t agree with this “super deep RB class” and nobody really got the draft capital or landing spots we wanted. I think we see a ton of people at the 1.06 reaching for Achane and I honestly might not blame them at this point.

I figure 1.06 and 2.01 gets me one of the 1st round WRs or Kincaid if I want to go that way, and a dart throw at the top of the 2nd, I’d be happy with that as I just don’t trust Swift’s value holding. Would have struggled to get more than a 2nd for him last week.Gazzerk wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 6:39 am Call me crazy but I’m not moving him for any pick outside of 1.05 in 1QB. Take that return and run with it. Might not be the flashiest, but it's a decent reroll. Like you said you get your choice of WR and then can stab at a Miller/Johnson/RB that might even exceed Swift's production.runCMC wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 6:55 amI figure 1.06 and 2.01 gets me one of the 1st round WRs or Kincaid if I want to go that way, and a dart throw at the top of the 2nd, I’d be happy with that as I just don’t trust Swift’s value holding. Re: D'Andre Swift: Skilled but "soft"
You get more of a return for Swift atm...but I'd prefer Pacheco on my team. Both are being hyped up more than what they'll actually produce.
Re: D'Andre Swift: Skilled but "soft"
Nice touch by Detroit Lions GM Brandon Holmes to get Swift in a good spot back home in Philly. Most wouldn't help a conference rival contender but shows class that he did right by the player instead of burying him on the bench.
Now as for expectations this has the looks of a two headed monster backfield. Penny & Swift should be a modern day version of the Panthers Deangelo Williams & Jon Stewart. Both could flirt with over 1000 combined yds and it remains to be seen how the TDs shake out. Or they could be the latest Jay Ajayi reclamation project.
Swift just never fit into the new culture and being a pick of the previous regime in Detroit I guess he had to go. Happens all the time when new front office / coach comes in. As a local Lions fan it never really came out what exactly Swift wasn't doing that they wouldn't dare give him the lead role. Sure when he is hurt & not dressed that irritated them. But even when healthy they would never have him in even when he was rolling.(avg over 5 yds per carry last year)
No excuses now so we will see if Lions misused him or they were right not to count on him.

Re: D'Andre Swift: Skilled but "soft"
Love the move but they weren’t doing Swift any favors. It just happened that way. Apparently Swift requested a trade almost immediately after they picked Gibbs and the Eagles were already aggressively attacking them for a move. Then they got more aggressive and offered enough to get them to budge. Regardless, it was a great move for his value. The best move here may be waiting for a big pop week or 2 that is probably pretty likely and seeing whose eyes light up again. If he shows well I think you’ll have some league mates fall right back in love.cazzie33 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:42 am Nice touch by Detroit Lions GM Brandon Holmes to get Swift in a good spot back home in Philly. Offered enough ??? A 4th rd pick not this year ... Not next year ... In 2025
Also you have to think it's essentially a 5th rd as the Eagles are set up to be contenders for the next few years. That's not a real aggressive move. Lions could've easily waited until end of camp or let him languish on the bench or as an inactive as insurance for injury to Montgomery(who has been hurt in past ). Probably get more immediate returns or better even by waiting to see what team might lose a RB during camp. Swift isn't a bum or bust. This was almost a giveaway.
Holmes could've done like most other GMs and waited. He got him to a good spot and early on enough so that Swift wouldn't be left out of his new team's plans on the last cuts before the season starts. Surely didn't need to trade him to a team the Lions most likely would have to face in the playoffs to advance to be a Super Bowl contender
Believe he did D'Andre a solid
