Trade Offer w/ Contracts Involved on Tycoon

Postby Shootace » Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:45 am

Hi,
Superflex Dynasty league, 14 teams, PPR, with contracts. Being offered:
Jonathan Taylor & Next Year's 2nd round rookie draft pick
For
Breece Hall & Next Year's 1st round rookie draft pick.

JT salary is $72 and goes up 15% each year on a 4 year contract
Breece's salary is $22 and goes up 15% each year on a 2 year contract

Cap is $350 per year, 16 players per team. For this year we have $100 cap space ($250 was for the startup draft). Because of the $50 difference in contracts between both players I will have $50 left in cap space for this year for use on waivers.

This is via League Tycoon site. My first thought is no, but wanted to get some input.

Thank you in Advance!

It's very difficult to answer without knowing what your rest if your roster and contracts look like for this year, but if you are not contending I want the Breece side. He will never be JT, but JT is going to get too expensive to contend in the future. In salary cap leagues, stay away from paying players over 15% of the cap. They lose value becasue it clogs cap space and they become difficult to move because rebuilders usually don't want them and contenders usually don't have the space to acquire them.

That's a good point and my first instinct was to decline due to the long term issues you mentioned.
For reference and in case this helps somebody else, I have included my roster below. As stated in the original post, salary cap increases 15% per player per year.
Startup Draft Cap Space was $250. Remaining $100 for waivers during 2022 season. Future cap will be $350.
Kyler Murray: $47 - 3 year contract
Jalen Hurts: $58 - 4 year contract
DJ Moore: $25 - 4 year contract
Diontae Johnson: $15 - 2 year contract
Drake London: $13 - 5 year contract
Zach Wilson: $7 - 2 year contract
Breece Hall: $22 - 2 year contract
Elijah Mitchell: $13 - 3 year contract
Gainwell: $4 - 2 year contract

The rest of my team below is on a 1 year contract. After 1 year I have a choice of resigning up to 2 players each year and 1 franchise tag per year.
Cordarelle Patterson: $10
Chase Edmonds: $9
Goedert: $12
Jaylen Warren: $1
Isaiah Likely: $1
Wan'Dale Robinson: $1
Allen Robinson: $12

In a SF, that is too rich for me at RB position. Hall is not JT, but he will give your roster more flexibility
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts
