2022-23 coaching carousel

Postby Pullo Vision » Thu Sep 22, 2022 7:38 am

There's been alot of mention on coaches on the hot seat- McCarthy and Rhule may not survive the full season. Less hot seatish, but Hackett, Kingsbury, Stefanski and Zac Taylor getting mentioned.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Rhule get canned before the week 13 bye, but replacing him with McAdoo won't solve any player in fantasy, lol.

Candidates to replace them, Sean Payton is already getting asked if he'll be coaching again. Brian Flores might get circulating again. Beyond retreads, Washington OC Scott Turner and Detroit OC Ben Johnson getting mentioned as candidates. Kellen Moore was the hot young OC at one time, so not sold on Turner/Johnson just yet.

Ya Indy could be in for an entire regime change.

Hackett is in 1 and Done watch. I wouldn't be surprised if he was initially hired in part as a draw for Aaron Rodgers, and then he decided to stay in GB.

If the Jets dont win more than 5/6 games Salah's name to be floated around. They haven't been very good at much of anything in a year and 2 games.

Rhule is 100% gone, question is when not if. McCarthy really should go too, Jerry is probably feeling too old to not make a change. Dan Quinn?

The issue with the Indy coaches imo is they fell into the same trap as rhule and the car crew. They didn't want to draft and develop, targeted the quick fix with retreads and it backfired

Who have the Colts passed on in the draft? They either didn't have round 1 or it was a back half pick.

I don't think Saleh has done anything to merit being on the hotseat already. Year one he took over a dumpster fire and had a rookie QB, and this year starting out without his starting QB and still upset the Browns. He hasn't been incredible, but hasn't been atrocious either. I think 3 years is the appropriate leash for coaches taking over bad teams unless they are obviously terrible.

Honestly the Luck retirement really screwed everything up for them. This is a SB contender with an elite QB and losing him left them with a solid roster that's gonna be competitive but not a real contender, so they've been grasping at straws in a desperate attempt to salvage the window they had built thinking it was going to be built around Luck.

Give the man some time, he took over a 2-14 team, got them to 4-13 in his first year, and has them 1-1 just upsetting the Browns. Not like he brings extra draft capital and player with him to the team. Gotta give him time to get the right players for his scheme and then let him try to develop them. Doesnt happen over night.

Well that's because they kept trading the first rather than trying to address the elephant in the room. And you don't necessarily need to take a qb top half of round 1, all they've done for rookies is mid to late day 3 guys. Which is how you wind up with the QB situation they've been trotting out since luck retired

Rumor in some obscure pocket of the internet is Mike McCarthy gets fired and Dallas brings in Sean Payton.

Huh? They traded one to get Buckner. Win. They traded another to address the elephant in the room, QB Wentz and missed

Barely a rumour. They've been making eyes across the room at each other for years. Payton already saying "he'd coach again for the right circumstance" this week.

If he's not the Coach of the Cowboys by this time next year, it will be an institutional failure in Big D (just like all their teams the last 10 years)

Hottest seats in no particular order:

Pete Carroll
Frank Reich
Matt Rhule
Mike McCarthy
Kliff Kingsbury

With dark horse candidate Lovie Smith because the hire seemed like a placeholder hire for a dumpster fire.
