Pretty good first game honestly. Solid target share by rookie standards, good snap count and a respectable 55 yards

Though I will say this Kyle Phillips character might actually be something. I'll have to look into him more

A lot of people liked him as a "Renfrow" type player.

Burks looked pretty much how I expected when I went through the plays. He’s still a bad open field blocker who only seems a little interested in doing his job most of the time.

His first catch, he motions pre-snap but stops in the wrong spot and Tannehill corrects him and he moves into the slot. He cuts across the field with no coverage and makes a decent grab.
His second target, he managed to run by the DB and get a couple yards of separation. Seemed to surprise with his acceleration. Unfortunately, DB fell on him and somehow avoided a PI call. Safety help was in tight over the top and Tannehill just overthrew him.
His third target was outside and he went deep. Was double covered and had no seperation on either guy. Tannehill overthrew, but no idea why he threw it there to begin with.
His fourth was out of the slot as he went in motion pre-snap and took a little dump off pass out of the slot.
His fifth and final target he lined up outside, but cut underneath while Woods cut outside from the slot and took the coverage with him. Easy catch over the middle.

He still struggles to separate from man coverage. He still doesn’t make many guys miss in the open field. It looks like Tennessee is really trying to get him involved, and if he would put consistent effort into his blocking, he’s probably better then Westbrook-Ikhine right now. I’m just not sure that’s much of an opportunity with how Tennessee plays offense.

Agree on both counts.

Burks will be handful when he learns the NFL game IMO. He is raw but there is plenty to work with. He has quick feet for a big guy and plenty of power.

Phillips is the real deal and is lightning quick in and out of breaks. He will be fun to watch play.

He looked like the only bright spot on the Titans in the first half and then got pulled for no apparent reason. I get they were being destroyed but still feels like you'd want him getting reps

Still though 8-9 PPR PPG already. Should be at 12-15 in a couple weeks IMO if the snap count goes up even marginally

Agreed. Burks looks pretty damn solid, especially for a player who struggled all preseason and was playing from behind for PT.

Where's Treylon Burks rank vs the 2023 rookie WR class.... Specifically the top 3 (JSN, Addison, QJ)

Behind for me. Similar range of prospects but had a disappointing rookie year so I'd rather reboot to a guy who's that range but can go from scratch

I agree. I'd probably have QJ and Burks very close for now though

Similar. For me, JSN, Addison (tier break) Burks, QJ. Id have Burks slightly ahead of QJ within the same tier, just because we’ve seen him flash in the NFL. If QJ tests well and gets a good landing spot/draft capital, I might bump him over Burks.

If I'm being realistic I take any of the top rookies ahead of Burks.

I'm hopeful Burks turns things around with a healthy sophomore year but more times than not giving these rookies who had strange rookie years and flashed in minimal game time the benefit of the doubt does not end well
