Weighing IDPs in trades
Been going back and forth in trade talks and closing the deal might involve me dealing one of my IDP studs. How do you weigh trading them in deals, such as those involving offensive starters and high end picks?

1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex
League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

Re: Weighing IDPs in trades
Would love to chat with you on a zoom sometime about this. I feel very comfortable typically, making blockbuster trades involving studs on both sides of the ball. But it takes time, and a huge part of it comes down to knowing your specific league’s ecosystem of value, and how your leaguemates treat certain positions (of course we know that’s true on offense too, but we are more used to that)

Re: Weighing IDPs in trades
with very few, generally league dependent exceptions, every IDP is expendable for high end offensive players or picks. mainly because it's a lot easier to replace them adequately.

Re: Weighing IDPs in trades
For me, first and foremost, it depends on the league IDP scoring and the # of IDP in relation to offense.
Because there are so many variable IDP scoring systems, my value for IDP pieces varies with the scoring.
IDP values also depends on how many players each team starts.
All of my IDP leagues match offense and defense, say 10 offensive starters = 10 IDP, and 11 offensive starters = 11 IDP and so on
If using IDP123 scoring or higher, than the IDP piece has a LOT more value in trade with the offensive player, assuming the offensive scoring system is not inflated to add more points also (PPC, PFFD, etc.)
If IDP scoring is lower than IDP123 scoring, and/or there are fewer IDP than offensive players, all of that will devalue the IDP asset.
So in a normal 12 team SF PPR IDP startup, 11 offensive starters, 11 IDP, IDP123 scoring, the first 2-3 rounds will be almost entirely offensive players. The top IDP guys will normally come off the board in the late 3rd round on.
So that is how I value them in a trade scenario. Say a top IDP piece like Roquan Smith would probably be roughly equal to a 4th round startup offensive piece ( Saquon Barkley, DJ Moore, Matthew Stafford, etc.)
Again, if the IDP scoring is lower, and/or the amount of IDP slots is lower, then the overall value of IDP assets is lower.
