Jahan Dotson is a value in rookie drafts

Postby FantasyFreak » Sun May 08, 2022 5:55 pm

Dotson was one of my favourite WR's in this class. Great hands, good routes, and isn't afraid to go over the middle, and he fights for the ball. Capable of explosive plays. High character player. Landing spot, I think is pushing him down, but he's got top half of the first round of draft capital, and is going at the end of the first or early 2nd round in rookie drafts. Perhaps people are down on the landing spot, but we all know the dangers of drafting or not drafting due to that.

I have seen a bunch of drafts where players such as Spiller, and Dameon Pierce, among others, are taken over him. Don't get cute, take the value. I wanted to wait until all my drafts were finished before discussing this player, but now that I have grabbed him in a few leagues, and have seen this trend, he's a good target for those with late first/early 2nds.

In two drafts I have been apart of, he has gone 17th and 18th. He's been one of the biggest fallers/player with the biggest discrepancy in ADP vs DLF ranking.

Curious to hear people's thoughts on him....

Props on posting this. I agree!

I’ll admit he’s at the end of my 1st round WR list, but I agree it’s ludicrous and yet common to rank him behind guys like Pierce, Spiller, and others who stand a good chance to never be a starter in their careers.

... until they trade McLaurin (prob not but also not totally crazy as he's been unhappy)

I like him right in that mix with Skyy Moore and Christian Watson (7-9 usually in single QB).

I honestly don't see the tier gap that some do with Olave, and I like Olave. Both have questionable QB situations, and apparent number 1 WR's over them. I really like both players, and understand their limitations, but I like Dotson more with the extra value based on ADP and what you can get, got Olave right now.

Yep. However he is going behind that range to some degree, from what I have found.

I this year's Kadarius Toney and after seeing him drop to the 3rd last year I agree on grabbing him early to mid 2nd or so

I prefer him as a prospect over Christian Watson, for instance. You can get him plus for Watson. He doesn't have the character issues Toney does, either.

I have snagged him early in two of my three drafts thus far. Great value.

I've drafted Dotson in several drafts where he keeps falling. Crazy good value at 11 imo.

2.01 in a 12 team SF, and 1.14 in a 14 team SF is where I grabbed him. I moved the 1.12 for the 2.01 and got an extra 23 2nd when Pickett fell to 1.12, in that 12 teamer so got some extra value too. He went at 1.12 (my original pick) that i traded for a 23 first pre draft, in another 12 team SF. Seems to be the range he's going in.

He fell all the way to 2.06 in my 12 team superflex league. I tried trading up/into the top half of the 2nd multiple times to grab him to no avail. He was a massive value there, falling after Ridder, Isaiah Spiller, Rachaad White, Dameon Pierce and Malik Willis.
12 Team Superflex - PPR, 0.25 PPC - QB/2RB/3WR/TE/Flex/Superflex
QB: L Jackson, Tagovailoa, Rodgers,l
RB: Pacheco, Spears, Ray Davis, Hubbard, Khalil Herbert, McLaughlin, Ty Chandler, Miles Sanders
WR: DeVonta, Waddle, Aiyuk, Nacua, Rashee, Keon Coleman, Pearsall, Hopkins, M Williams, Mingo, Wan’Dale, McCaffrey
TE: Kelce, Okonkwo

I have him in that mixture grouping, but would you take him over Pickens or Skyy given the option?
