This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Advice on consistently disappointing playoff team

Postby Rylakn » Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:09 pm

Hey guys, as the name suggests, I'm looking for some feedback/opinions on my team in Sig.

I've had this team for years and have been a consistent playoff team. I have had great regular seasons winning most points and best record often. That being said, I seem to keep ending up between 4th and 6th, after disappointing/unlucky playoff performances.

I made a few big swings last year to get out of some of my aging talent, and I'm fairly happy with how it shook out, but again, ended up with a first round playoff exit.

Can you please look over my moves from last season and my team below and offer any feedback on where to go from here? Please help me get back to glory.

Trade 1
Gave: Boyd, Sutton and Marvin Jones
Got: Higgins and Elija Moore

Trade 2
Gave: DHop, Keenan Allen and Carson
Got: Lamb, ETN and Hockenson

Trade 3 (least favourite)
Gave: Kelce, Landry, My 2022 1st and 2nd (turned out to be 1.08 and 2.08) I was hoping for later.
Got: DJ Moore, Kareem Hunt, Jonu Smith and 2022 1st (1.02) belonging to the team that has had a top 2 pick the last 5 years, but always trades them away.
12 Team, 0.5 PPR, QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, RB/WR/TE, 3LB, 3DL, 3DB
QB: Wilson, Tua, Mayfield
RB: Chubb, Mixon, ETN, Henderson, Hunt, Connor, Robinson
WR: Lamb, DJM, Higgins, E Moore, London, JuJu, Samuel, Shennault, Amari Rodgers, Dyami Brown
TE: Hockenson, Henry
LB: Wagner, Gary, Eric Kendricks, Zaven Collins, Thibedaux, Chandler Jones, Edmunds
DL: Young, Simmons, Barmore, Lawson, Chris Jones, Jonathan Allen
CB: Stingley JR
S: Bates

Draft Picks:
2023: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
2024: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
2025: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

I really like some of the moves you made last season and your team is solid overall. Outside of moving your youth for more established older point producers, there is not much to do here and that is risky too value wise and long term. There is no great formula or perfect group to guarentee a title no matter how good a build looks. I would hold your picks this year and next, go BPA and keep your team young and building. If your team comes together, you could make a serious run. Stay the course.

I have a similar team that is always a top team and bounces out in the first round three years in a row now after great regular seasons. I have retooled slightly but keep a solid younger build and keep building and pushing for a title.

Those first two trades were unbelievable. I wish to heavens I could find a league that makes trade like those. I am in about 8 leagues and in every one everybody has to win a trade and knows the value of their players. Rant over.

RB: D. Harris, D. Montgomery, Kendre M.
WR: Chase, AJ Brown, Aiyuk, Bateman
TE: Waller, J. Woods, Dulich, Mayer

QB: Mahomes, Burrow, Watson
RB: Hall, Walker, Javonte, Pacheco, K Mitchell, Dobbins
WR: Godwin, JSN, Pittman, Pickens, Toney, DP Jones, S Moore
TE: Andrews, Fant, Likely
(2024) 1.03, 2.03, 3.03
(2025) Top 3 1st, my 1st

Team 3 SF, TEP, Start 11 ppr
QB: AR, Watson, Young, Levis
RB: ETN, Walker, Pierce, Akers, Pacheco, Herbert, Warren, Kelley
WR: G. Wilson, Higgins, Godwin, Kirk, Bateman, Collins, Doubs, Chark, Shaheed,

Haha thanks. Trading in this league can be very tough. Only 3 or 4 teams out of 12 actually make deals.

At the time the analyser had them as pretty even, but I pulled the trigger on the youth. Banking on the fact that the vets would decrease in value.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I understand there isn't much to be done about luck. When it happens every year its super frustrating, thinking maybe I'm lacking depth or something for late in the season.

Your trades last year were all great moves. Sometimes you just get unlucky. I have a team in very similar position, where I am always a favorite but never win money.

If ETN hits, you should be right there in contention again next year. Dont be afraid to shop the 1 02 as well. You will have your pick of non-hall prospects at the pick, but I've seen a lot of overpays with owners trying to buy the pick to land their guy.

Eventually, test the waters on Chubb and Mixon. The clock is ticking on their value.
