Lately leaning Ladd
I’ve seen a lot of Ladd hype. I don’t follow cfb, so I’m wondering, if he’s so good, why was he in college for 4 years and why wasn’t his production all that great?
The answer is injuries.

He crushes in a lot of efficiency metrics because not only was he off the field a lot rehabbing, he also wasn't used as a full time player even when he was having his best season.

Without a doubt Ladd has an incredible profile that resembles more than a few pretty good players.

Pretty reasonable to be worried about him making the jump to the Pros health-wise, though. It's not like it gets -less- physical.

AD Mitchell won't struggle physically, we know that much. For him, it's... pretty much everything else.

Thanks. Interesting.

Part of the deal with AD at Texas is this: Average Depth of Target (aDOT): 16.0

He was never used on screens/hitches/shallow stuff. Can he? I dunno. If it was just how they used him due to Worthy, Wittingham, and JT ... then it isn't really on him. History is littered with misses and some hits on this kind of profile.

Also, Ewers is mid at best.

Ladd had good YPRR. Relatively low drop rate. Good YAC. 4.39 40.
Mitchell had 4.34 40. 9.88 RAS. Very low drop rate.

I'm having trouble remembering the last Georgia WR with good raw production.

That said, McConkey does check some nice boxes statistically that should translate. Cashed a lot of first downs in that offense, feasted on zone, and his separation statistics match the skill on tape. Still a tough projection though to bet against things like breakout, YPTT, and age adjusted production numbers. But, he just looks the part whenever you watch games.

That's the red flag on Mitchel, the low YPRR.

Correct.

Weird that you would list Ladd's YPRR and omit Mitchell's when ostensibly comparing them back-to-back.

Carry on.

More Jonathon Brooks smoke.
Texas RB Jonathon Brooks told me he has a Top 30-visit scheduled with the Dallas Cowboys.

He remains on track in his recovery and is expected to be cleared in time for training camp.

So first they did his surgery, and now they're using one of their allocated Top 30 visits to bring him in for a chat...

They're picking 24th. (And then 56th, which is obviously more likely)

Imagine...

Wasn't intentional. I have some stats in a few documents, and one had +data and another had red flags. His YPRR being so low (I think I showed it on that chart) was definitely a concern of mine.

OOF, this is a brutal take. Adanoi is this year's QJ? Damn.
