Oh yeah, I look at Jim Nagys Twitter and he had that defensive back up there. I thought that sounded light.tresskid84 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:42 pmYeah, I saw 201 as well. I think you might have seen that for Duke's Michael Carter (CB). They had their pro day today as well.jjleurquin wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:20 pmCarter weighed in at 201. As for their oline, both williams and carter create a lot on their own and howells talent and their talent open things up both ways making the offense very efficient.Nanananananana wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:11 pm
That whole UNC crew was a little disappointing today, their 40s anyway. Carter weighing 184 was not ideal either, Naheem Hines/Gio Bernard is his best case scenario.

Re: Javonte Williams
Javonte Williams is basically a more explosive (but smaller) David Montgomery. I care more that he ran that slow at that size and in a weak conference his "contact balance" means less to me than say Chubb when he entered the NFL. With what picks I have in the range hes going I like to quote shark tank: "Im out".

Re: Javonte Williams
This is exactly why I was saying wait till this guy’s pro-day. I heard 4.5/4.4 at 220 on here and absolutely didn’t see it. This draft is getting slimmer and slimmer. Happy I traded all my late picks this year. Only players I want are Pitts, Harris, Lawrence, and Chase
I may or may not be related to Bryan Edwards
Re: Javonte Williams
If Harris runs a 4.6 which is possible will you be out on him too? Also I didn’t bother to check but I’m pretty sure off the top of my head Williams numbers are very similar to Josh Jacobs coming out .alewilliam789 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 8:44 pmThis is exactly why I was saying wait till this guy’s pro-day. Not sure if you're talking to me, but I was already out on Harris where he is going (1.01, 1.02)KingsKing wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 10:18 pmIf Harris runs a 4.6 which is possible will you be out on him too? Re: Javonte Williams
40 times have a negative correlation to RB success in the NFL. To discount Williams for turning a 4.60 40 (his 4.55 pro day plus 0.5) may not be the best idea.
He hits a couple of critical thresholds - he’s under a 4.65 40 and his speed score is 94.8 that surpasses the 91.7 line. So those red flags are removed and IMO then it’s time to go to the eye test, which again IMO he passes with flying colors.
I still believe he’s the going to end up as the best RB of the top ones from this class. He does a lot of things that make him NFL ready and capable of playing 3 downs right from the onset. I see his game as situation proof.

The three cone does not correlate at all with NFL or fantasy success at the RB position. It’s a completely useless test. When you use somebody’s three cone time to make an argument, you make everybody here a little bit dumber. Stop it.

Oh, Bishop Sankey, you who represent the last time I allowed team need to force a round 1 pick. I'm honestly scared off now, at least until I can do more research and he lands at a "great spot."YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:18 am I don't know why, but I smell a Bishop Sankey odor coming from him. There is absolutely no data in that link. Your source is just what some guy at Bleacher Report thinks is important. Try again.Lumps wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:29 amWhat makes you say this?OhCruelestRanter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:12 am The three cone does not correlate at all with NFL or fantasy success at the RB position. Here’s the data. The three cone does not meaningfully correlate with NFL or fantasy success. https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/article ... alytics-rb
On the other hand, Williams’ speed score is dangerously close to the threshold where the precedent for success is really limited.

The data is that the best RB in the game runs an absurd 3 cone. Other notables also have some solid scores.OhCruelestRanter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:55 amThere is absolutely no data in that link. The link you provided basically says speed score matters and nothing else. 3 cone would actually be what #4-3 of the tests. The data also basically says nothing is good at predicting if a RB is good at receiving. Which makes sense.
From your link, note that 3 cone isn't on the NOT list.Statistics that have historically NOT been correlated to early NFL success (AV/G) for RBs:
1. NFL Combine Weight (R-squared = 0.00)
2. NFL Combine Vertical Jump (0.00)
3. College YPR (0.00)
4. NFL Combine Agility Score (0.00)
5. College Market Share of Carries (0.00)
6. NFL Combine Broad Jump (0.01)
7. NFL Combine Height (0.01)
8. NFL Combine Bench Press (0.01)
9. NFL Combine Shuttle (0.01)
10. College Market Share of Rushing Yards (0.01)
I had a suspicion that the 3 cone wasn't ran very much, so since you like data here is a 2000-2019 spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1418500202
And guess what?
Total participants: 530
40: 517 (97.55%)
Vert: 432 (81.51%)
Broad: 424 (80.00%)
Bench: 404 (76.23%)
Shuttle: 306 (57.74%)
3 Cone: 303 (57.17%)
So if you want to throw your hands up and look at speed score and nothing else, sure. I think we can all agree that a small slow RB isn't as likely to have as much success as a giant extremely fast RB. Physics and all.
But I would argue that there are a MYRIAD of reasons why RBs we like fail - athleticism in college vs. being able to read blocks. Poor scheme fit. Adam Gase.
