Malik Willis SF 1.01?

Postby MaddMadden » Wed Feb 09, 2022 1:18 pm

I am in an early rookie draft and selecting 1.01. Leaning Malik Willis because he has the most upside in the class. How crazy am I?

I beileve Mel Kiper is the guy who has him going like 6th overall in the NFL draft now. If that is the case then he absolutely is the 1.01 in SF if he slides down to 20 something then I would say no. In other words I’d like to see how the NFL values him first

Me too, but don't have the luxury in this draft.

This is a very tough draft to gauge QBs before the real NFL draft. If forced to pick like you are, I’d probably lean Willis (if I’m QB needy). If I’m halfway decent at QB then I’d probably try to play a little safer and go Spiller or Hall.

Crazy. I think I'd almost punt this year for QBs and draft someone I know should be an asset (even it you're just going to use it as trade bait) like Burks or Hall.

If you aren't super confident about taking him there, have you put out feelers to see what trade options are there in your league? Trading back, or trading out all together, may be the best move if you aren't just getting lowball offers or left on read by your league mates this time of the year.

No dance partners unfortunately! He has the highest ceiling in the class. If he gets R1 capital (which I think his ceiling will attract). He's AT LEAST a top 5 pick and that's as close as you can hope for in an early draft lol.

This is a startup where I am building through devys. Have 13 devy picks in the first 6 rounds
QB: Baker
RB: Z. Moss, C. Evans, J. Kelley, A. McFarland, S. Perine, M. Breida, P. Lindsay, T. Cohen
WR: Lamb, AJB, DJM, Tee Higgins, Jeudy, R. Moore, J. Jones, D, Mims, KJ Hamler
TE: OJ Howard

Went Willis because he fits my build best (and I have plenty of other devy bullets), but I was more curious about where other people have him on their pre-draft boards.

In my opinion ceiling matters more than floor.

I think Howell is much safer. I honestly would go with Burks this early. Way too many question marks at the QB spot at this stage.

I am with FF. WR's are the safest right now for early drafts and Burks is a pretty known commodity at this point. I like Willis upside a lot compared to the other QBs but very early on in the draft process he could draw a pile of red flags between a proday and the combine to just fall into late day 2.

A little crazy but he's the upside play. I have 1.01/4/5 and likely will pass on him at 1.01 but hoping he somehow makes it to 1.04. I don't need a QB (provided Watson plays) but I love the upside. If I needed a QB then I would most likely take him 1.01.

Also apparently Tomlin was glued to his hip at the Senior Bowl. I'm guessing they'd have to trade up for him but his value would skyrocket if that plays out.

LOL. He went 1.08 in our SF DLF Early Birds Special league. (This league was based on the league you mentioned. FWIW, we have 2 orphans available, if any DLF regular is interested, shoot me a DM)
