Rebuilding around JT

Team 3

For those of you that have rebuilt around a 1st or 2nd year RB… is this a viable strategy? I am pretty much locked into a top 3 pick in ‘22 and if there’s 3 running backs I’ll probably be picking up a third one to pair with JT and Javonte. I just worry that by the time I’m rdy to compete they will be in years 3 and 4 respectively. I looked at a lot of star RBs and they generally do very well in years 4 5 and 6 of their careers.

That team has the framework to be competitive sooner rather than later. To be 3 or 4 years away your team has to be a total dumpster fire, which yours is not. Both Taylor and Williams are young, so no need to bail on them now, even if you aren't competitive this year.

I prefer to build around WR's in general but certainly in a rebuild. That being said, there is no reason you can't keep a piece like Taylor and build around him and Williams. The only way I would move Taylor even in a full rebuild is if a massive overpay came with multiple picks and multiple somewhat established young assets. Trading Taylor for all picks comes with too much risk. I don't think Taylor's value is really going anywhere either pending health which makes him safer than an RB in year 4 or 5. I would hold and see how your team looks/comes out next year after picks and all. Lots of time to let this play out.

What's your starting requirements and league size? Generally it's better to sell the top rbs and rebuild around wrs as their career length is longer.

I think that your on the right course, your pretty solid at wr and rb for a rebuild. You have LJax, JT, Javonte, AJB, Godwin and Toney. If you can add another top rb next year then load up in the 2023 draft your team is going to be deep and solid. I like the direction of your roster.

Sorry if I missed them before lol.

Non-ppr is going to change this a bit. On one hand it makes JT incredibly more value, on the other hand he's almost irreplaceable if you're just getting draft picks back.

I would put him on the trade block and see what type of offers you get. You're looking for picks and young players in return. If you didn't have J Williams, getting him and two 2022 firsts would be a good return, because we expect j Williams to have more value next year.

I think you can wait and see what happens in the off season and if you want use your picks this off season to get some vets to help bolster your roster and make you a contender.
