2018 Mike McCoy. Took the best workhorse RB in the league that excelled as a receiver in space and gave him nearly exclusively inside handoffs to run into the the Dline

As far as NFL coaching goes I dont have much faith in some of this numb-skulls. Too much ego to adapt to the personnel they have available

Repercussions of Gruden leaving

Postby jnestel24 » Tue Oct 12, 2021 1:41 pm

I'm curious who you guys think will be impacted the most with Gruden leaving. I would assume Josh Jacobs could take a hit since it's unlikely a new coach would be willing to force-feed him the way Gruden did. Who from the raiders are you trying to sell and who are you trying to buy?

Gruden sent those emails to the GM and other employees of the team. Not one person said anything about it.
Speaking of "Documented and Exposed"... things are about to potentially kick up another notch...

"NFLPA to petition NFL to release all emails from Washington Football Team investigation"
https://www.espn.com/espn/print?id=32389529

The money quote to bring it back to Gruden...
"It is truly outrageous that after the NFL's 10-month long investigation involving hundreds of witnesses and 650,000 documents related to the longtime culture of harassment and abuse at the Washington Football Team, the only person to be held accountable and lose their job is the coach of the Las Vegas Raiders," lawyers Lisa Banks and Debra Katz said in a statement.
Lol. Buckle up, fellas... we're not even close to out of the woods yet.

And now Gruden's off the Bucs' Ring of Honor. This is only the beginning, he just had to be the first. The irony is, there are a ton more people that are screwed besides him - we just haven't seen or heard about it yet.

Honestly, you'd probably end up having to fire half the league, wouldn't shock me at all if true, if we ever actually get all the details of those emails from the NFL's "investigation." Something tells me way too many people would go down if all those details came to light - way too many "important" people.

Wonder when it stops, if ever? Last I checked, the league - and the world - is not full of perfect people who have never done terrible things.

Can't make any mistakes these days, whether unforgivable ones like this or just a bad day ones. You get destroyed, either way, especially on any media. Just the way life is now.

No disagreements here. The people saying “cancel culture” around this are idiots. Another word for cancel culture is “consequences” which is something all these coaches preach to their players every week regarding how they conduct themselves as employees of the NFL in public and in private.

You’re a true piece of work if you don’t practice what you preach (Urban Meyer, moral leader of men says hello) and triply so if you're in contempt of being homophobic, racist, misogynist… or in this case, all three of those things, in 2021.

If this was a Player being outed for the same comments and views, nobody here would be batting an eye, they'd have been buried 10ft under, and we'd have already moved on. That Head Coaches should be held to the ostensible standards of their office and position when it comes to personal conduct in the modern era, is really not that big of a hot take. The NFL immediately scrambling to run an equality ad during the MNF halftime tells you all you need to know.

Now let the heads roll. :boohoo:

Some of you understand that you are unintentionally asking to unravel the game that we all love, right?

Football is a violent sport. It’s already in the crosshairs of some because of its blatant masculinity. NFL football is the elite level of what is designed to be adversarial and a controlled violence subculture. This is a male culture of overt dominance over one’s opponent.

It’s also almost the perfect team sport. All 11 players on each side of the ball have to function at that elite level and weak links are ruthlessly exposed and exploited. Male bonding and locker room banter are part of the essentials that make the game work and form critical deep bonds that otherwise would not exist in most parts of our society.

There’s a culture that is required to make this sport function. It’s alpha male dominance oriented. No one should be excusing Gruden’s behavior - he’s clearly a throwback to the 70s and never evolved, but got by on his gregarious charm in the public’s eye that went along with his expertise at understanding the intricacies of football theory and being able to manage multi-millionaire delinquents. But if football - and the NFL is the top of that pyramid - is going to survive and thrive, there has to be an understanding that this is explicitly an alpha male sport and culture that lionizes the studs and grinds over the flawed. It’s a fundamental part of what makes the game work, and what makes it loved by so many while simultaneously so despised by some. If this game is going to survive in this day and age, there is going to have to be some concession and admission to what can only be described as dominant maleness - and there’s nothing wrong with that in what should be a tolerant and inclusive society.

You can be an alpha male without being homophopic, racist, etc.

And if you are, then keep it to yourself for sake of having a lucrative career

Was just about to say the same thing. Being alpha may explain certain shitty behavior, but it doesn't automatically excuse all of it.

And yet, the NFL will proudly trot out Eminem, Dre, and Snoop for their halftime show. I hope no one goes digging through their past

It's the hypocrisy, double standards, and faux outrage that bothers me.

True, especially from people who are well off without care in the world, lobbing morality bombs from the safety of their phones and screens.

That said there are plenty of real scumbags who deserve to get their comeuppance.

Again, there's no no way they release the entire WFT report - probably half the league's leadership would need to be canned.

This really isn't a difficult concept, is it? You don't have to behave like Richie Incognito to play football.

I don’t think anyone is saying otherwise. But there is a very vocal and active portion of our current society who believe that testosterone is a serious problem and alpha males are the cause of the large predominance of the ills in the world.

I don't necessarily believe that Gruden is a racist or homophobe based on these emails; But nothing Gruden said was "alpha".

He acts/acted like a petulant child and haphazardly hurled the same kind of colorful and immature insults you'd find at a children's playground.

This is more an example of cancel culture at work than anti-testosterone driven propaganda.

Gruden is the Martha Stewart of the NFL

Was she the biggest insider trader in the stock market ??? Nobody believes that .
Was she high profile enough that the investigators could finally feed the lions some red meat ??? Yep

Did that provide cover for the CEOs higher up the food chain ??? Must have, not many got dragged through the mud much less sent to prison. They still had their careers.

NFL has a perception problem (along w/ an actual problem) of being the Good Ol’ Boys club of white male dominance. From hiring practices (Rooney Rule) to sexual harassment (see Daniel Snyder & more) to homophobic ( see I Am Sam ) to racial insensitivity ( see C. Kaepernick & native Americans) and you get a ton posturing practices but no heads rolled from the top.

Gruden is the test case / guinea pig to see if this buys cover for elites who own the lg. It’s like the Chris Rock joke about Bill Gates & Oprah. One is rich , but the other one is wealthy. Goodell works for the owners, CHUCKIE ain’t an owner. They’re hoping he’s big enough to satisfy the public hunger so they don’t have to fry up the BIG 🎣

How do you like your sacrificial lamb 🐑 served up ? Alone on a platter or with few big chunks of white meat 🥩
