Latavius Murray Thread - Lands with Baltimore

Postby knuckles50 » Thu May 02, 2013 2:12 pm

What do you know about him? All I know so far is he went to raiders in 6th, is 6'2 223 and ran a 4.4 out of CFU. What can you add?

Tore his knee up a few years ago, but seemed to bounce back alright from it. Not used excessively in college - ran 198 times last year, but only went over 100 carries one other time in four years. Decent receiving stats. I'd be a little worried that he's maybe TOO big for RB, though. 6'2" 223 would be pretty good sized for a WR even.

Ok, so maybe he is James Starks 2.0, if such a thing exists.

Haha, potentially. He is on the same roster as an injury factory named DMC, so there's that I suppose, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to get him I don't think.

I think he's worth a late round flier. Size, speed and in a favorable situation for a deep rounder.

Starks is dead on. I said so myself in another discussion.

Goes down on first contact a lot. Weird running style that might not translate well. Worth a stash, but pick up Reese if someone drops him because I think he's the real handcuff this year.

He does remind of Starks a little bit - he is a little bit faster, a little bit bigger, and a little bit more agile.

And any RB underneath McFadden on the depth chart has value.

I think a better comp is Robert Turbin.

He has a featured article on the premium side of the site. It gives great insight, check it out. I find it interesting that UCF has produced several fantasy studs (i.e. Culpepper, B. Marshall, etc). What are your thoughts now?

My thoughts are he's always going to be more valuable than wherever you can draft him.

He's drafted very late and you can get him with your last pick in many leagues, and even if you're in a league with guys who probably like him, he's still going to be a guy who has value even if you reach a round or two, considering what else is available around there.

He's got a decent situation, he could be the next option behind a very injury prone RB, and he has the potential to be a top RB. Easily worth the gamble at the prices you can get him.

I know it's very early, and there's alot lefto to be sorted out before the season starts. So, if you are one of the unfortunate DMC owners, are you targeting Murray as the handcuff to DMC, or do you feel it will be Marcel Reece again WHEN DMC gets hurt again. I swore Id never own DMC, but some how he is now on one of my rosters so I am kinda interested in this.

I would say Rashad Jennings is the real handcuff,,, seems everyone has forgotten that he is a raida now.

No, we just remember that he's not any good.
