The Dream Team of Tomorrow

Postby tjaden » Tue Jul 12, 2011 2:33 am

ESPN is starting a set of article with an All-Pro team with players you think will be the best at their positions between 2014-16.
A panel of ESPN experts generate a list of nominees for the team. Some of the choices are still in college, while others will be rookies this season.

It would be interesting to know what the nominees from the DLF-community would be.

Some players mentioned by ESPN are: A.Peterson (MIN,RB), Gabe Carimi (CHI,OL), H.Abdullad (MIN,S) and P.Harvin (MIN,WR)

Peterson is 26 now. I have a hard time believing he's at the top of his position all 3-6 years from now. But otherwise, i think it's a great idea to try and work this out.

That's what the article is saying. Notable players, like Adrian Peterson, are not on the list because 3-6 years from now he'll be on the decline.

Pick your "Dream Team"

Postby Ron_Y » Tue Dec 23, 2014 4:07 pm

Hey guys,

Just thought i'd have some fun as i enjoy my post-championship winning euphoria (shameless self-five). I thought it would be cool to see what the consensus is for what you would consider your dream team if you could pick any players to be on a new startup.

So whats your dream team for this format?

1QB, 3WR, 3RB, 1TE, 1 WR/TE/RB flex

Mine:

Rodgers

Dez
Julio
A. Brown

Le'Veon
Lacy
Murray

Gronk

Flex: Torn between Graham and Alshon. I pick Graham i think.
Primary League10 Team, 2QB, 2TE, .5 PPR: 3x Champion, 1x Runner Up
QB: Herbert, Carr, Howell
RB: Saquon, Mixon, A. Jones Henderson, Mitchell, CEH, Wilson
WR: Jefferson, Chase, Amon-Ra, Meyers, QJohnston, Zay. Mooney
TE: Kelce, Higbee, Parham, Likely,

QB: Andrew Luck (Think he'll stay healthier than Rodgers and put up comparable if not better numbers)

WR: Antonio Brown, Jordy Nelson, Mike Evans (Want to go with high volume guys that stay pretty healthy)

RB: Le'Veon Bell, Jeremy Hill, Eddie Lacy (young guys who have already performed plus have the body to be durable)

TE: Jimmy Graham (Gronk would be here if he was guaranteed to stay healthy)

Flex: LeSean McCoy (still young, proven track record, big play guy)
Dynasty Football United: Reading Reapers
Non-PPR all 6 point TD's, 1 QB, 0-2 RB, 1-5 WR, 0-3 TE, 1 K, 2-3 DL, 3-4 LB, 2-3 DB
QB: Andrew Luck, Carson Palmer
RB: Frank Gore, Robert Turbin, Ryan Mathews, Kenjon Barner, Mike Gillislee, Dion Lewis
WR: Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, TY Hilton, Willie Snead, Allen Hurns, Travis Benjamin, Robby Anderson, JJ Nelson, Dontrelle Inman
TE: Martellus Bennett, Cameron Brate
K: Stephen Gostowski
DL: Danielle Hunter, Frank Clark, Kerry Hyder, Trey Flowers
LB: Lavonte David, Preston Brown, Telvin Smith, Craig Robertson, Danell Ellerbee
DB: Logan Ryan, Jahleel Addae, Daryl Worley, Donte Whitner

I'm confused here:

Are you basically just asking who is your #1 QB and TE and top 3 WR and RBs rankings are going into next season.

Should be pretty obvious to most but if this is what you are asking:

Luck

Bell
Lacy
Hill

AJG
Dez
Julio

Grock

Brown

Luck

Julio
Dez
Evans

Bell
Lacy
Charles (he's only 27, he'll be elite for another 2 years at least)

Gronk

Brown

The continued dream is still alive so I'll take what I have:
QB: Rodgers
WRs: Calvin, A Brown, J Jones
K: Gostkowski

and add some side sauce of
RBs: Bell and Lacy
TE: Graham

QB - Luck - I'd say he's the obvious choice (alongside Rodgers)
RBs - Bell, Lacy, Charles - Bell is an obvious choice, Lacy has his issues but it young, productive and a complete back, Charles is older (comparitively) but ultra productive and a lot easier to trust than someone like Hill (even as a Hill owner)
WRs - Dez, Julio, Brown - Dez is a TD machine, Julio is flat out dominant and Brown is far and away the most consistently productive WR there is
TE - Gronk - Graham has had a down year but fully healthy he is still a difference maker
FLEX - AJ Green - I toyed with Graham, McCoy and Beckham but you have to take the other truly transcendent WR. No way I could take an RB here given the volatility and lifespan of the position.
16 Team PPR (11th Year Dynasty - Former 2 Time Champion)
P. Mahomes, Z. Wilson
C. McCaffrey, N. Harris, C. Hubbard
D. Hopkins, A. Cooper, C. Kupp, D. Johnson, G. Davis, D. Mims, J. Palmer
D. Waller, C. Kmet, B. Jordan

C. Young, R. Quinn
D. Leonard, M. Milano, C. Mosely, B. Okereke, J. Davis
J. Simmons, J. Fuller

Picks - 1.01, 2.12, 3.01, 3.15, 4.14

16 Team PPR (10th Year Dynasty - Reigning 5 Time Champion)
A. Rodgers, J. Fields
C. McCaffrey, D. Henry, J. Dobbins, M. Davis
D. Hopkins, D. Adams, C. Kupp, M. Jones, M. Valdes-Scantling, A. Green, T. Johnson, Dy. Brown, G. Pickens, J. Tolbert,
N. Fant, A. Okwugbunam, J. Harris
J. Elliott

D. Lawrence, R. Quinn, T. Hendrickson
R. Smith, B. Okereke, L. Wilson, J. Davis, D. Tranquil, B. Asamoah
J. Simmons, W. Harris

Your dream team in a locked roster long term dynasty?

Postby Valhalla » Mon Aug 01, 2016 12:07 pm

Just curious to see any names that may surprise/be a little different. If you were told that you could pick your roster, top to bottom, to have for dynasty, but were unable to trade for 8 years (waivers for injuries allowed), how would you construct your team? What does your lineup look like?
Consider it to be 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1Flex, bench of 12 (20 players in all). PPR, no return yards or bonuses or anything. GO!

8 years from now would be tough. Luck, OBJ, Zeke and Gurley are the only backs I see as still PLAYING six, seven, eight years from now that I could even consider dream team.unless we include Devy. Then Fournette for sure. Might round out wrs with Cooper, ARob, and Sammy. It depends if you include Devy since eight years is a long time from now in football years, especially with backs.

That’s the exercise I’m asking you to try, though. The question would be too easy to answer if it were something like 5 years. I am aware that RB is a really tough thing to answer here, and why I expect to get a wide variance in responses. Go ahead and include DEVY…with the assumption that by including Fournette, you don’t get him year one, but will get him likely years 2-7 (unless he stays in school for some odd reason). So if you want JuJu, you can have him too for years 2-7 as a bench guy.
I am curious who takes AB and takes the solid 4-5 years of production knowing that years 6-8 won’t be as quality from him… I take him because rostering guys like Parker, Cooper, Coleman, ARob, OBJ, etc makes AB a no-brainer as you have future starters covered anyways. Everyone will have their own opinion. You don’t want to take too many older players, though, because the later years would be too depleted.

Also, the fact that RB is so unstable is another interesting thing to consider. Do you roster just two QBs and only a few bench WRs counting on nearly all of them to stay relevant so you can load up on lots of RBs and better your chances of having relevant ones in the future? Do you have enough faith in a few guys like Hyde, Duke or Henry types to be enough long term depth behind Gurley DJ Elliott type of combo? How would you build this? Just for fun. 8 years of a locked roster makes it a thinker. 4 years is obvious, boring answers.
*Example: maybe you actually don't want to roster AB because that means having another young WR rostered to cover his elite production in 5 years. You'd rather not have two roster spots tied up for every older guy you roster, so would rather have Cooper than AB + Parker or something. I don't agree with this thought, but just want to see how people construct something like this. I'm most interested in how people approach rostering RBs. That should be interesting.
