Parsons vs JOK

D is a place I am looking to improve. Don’t have a first rounder, but am sitting at 12. Too early to grab a LB? I am good at WR, and feel that is the position that will be there in abundance. But also should have the first crack at D so I would rather have the top LB vs the 5-6 WR.

Is Parsons a lock? Off field issues. Or JOK a safer play?

I'm no IDP expert (like Lukky), but here are my thoughts:
Parsons has it all, including (possibly) a ten cent head. How far will he slide down the draft? We'll find out in a few hours. It will be interesting to see how JOK is announced when he is drafted tonight. Will it be LB or safety? Even if it is LB, I think he is going to loose tackling opportunities because he'll be dropped into coverage more than Parsons. I'm not making any decisions on these two until I see the draft capital and actual landing spots. I want to target Parsons with my #17 pick, but who knows he'll be there.

I'll be looking at Parsons with my 15th pick. I can see him going at 12. Agree that landing spot and draft capital could have an effect on how these players fall, however.

Good luck.

About that . . .

All joking aside, is anyone else floored by the fact that Collins and Davis went round one but JOK is still on the board?

Parsons landing spot makes him an awkward player to want to get out ahead of your league mates to draft. There is so much competition for snaps and for tackles in that Cowboys LB group now that I think I would rather let someone else draft him and go stock up on the Jamin Davis, JOK and Boltons a little later.

A big part of this is who ends up dropping to you. I think this will be a year where we see first round QBs, there are three RBs that should go etc so you could be staring down a good WR with that pick or the ability to trade down with a WR needy team.

I was thinking the same thing about Parsons after he was drafted to DAL.
My league is new to IDP(one season under our belt), and we're shallow at this point. We constantly have LB's to cycle on and off the WW. Hopefully adding a flex this offseason will change that a little. But, it has left me valuing really good DL a little more than chasing LB's. I actually bumped Paye ahead of Parsons in my rankings based on that. Was that crazy of me? Parsons still got drafted first out of our IDP's, but I'm pretty sure I would have taken Paye ahead of him if I was staring at that decision. Still fairly new to this. So, trying to learn.

You ought to be taking a hard look at Jamin Davis too. He’s a great 3 down LB of his own accord and he’s going to a superb situation in WAS where they have an awesome D line in front of him and need help in their LB corps badly, plus his coaching staff tends to optimize LB numbers.

Absolutely not. JOK is the definition of a tweener. If I’m a HC and I see him lined up at LB I’m pulling a OG or C and running right at him with power. I think the guy can be an impact player in the NFL but his size is going to limit some of the ways he can be used. Collins is a physical freak who can line up anywhere in the second level and can probably put his hand in the dirt on the edge occasionally as well. Davis is going to be a classic 3 down LB who fits the WAS D perfectly.

If I was going to go out and grab one of these linebackers it would be davis. I have gotten him in 2 leagues so far, one a 12 team league with a lot of devy, about 50 devys held going into the draft parsons had been taken as a devy last year and jok went around 5th overall I took davis at 19th, felt great with that one. In a 32 team contract league where I am looking to compete and have a lot of 2nd round picks stockpiled these next 2 years I moved 2 2nds this year and one next to move up to 18th and take davis with all the LBs still on the board. A little more questionable move but if he pays off like I think he could it will be a steal
