Darnold+ or Goff+

Hey all,

Help me out with a few unexciting QBs for a minute. This is for Team 1 in my signature, which I think after a couple year rebuild is ready to compete. Looking for a SF QB3 upgrade and have this offer on the table.

Give: Darnold + 2.08
Get: Goff + Dalton + 3.04

Seems like a pretty solid deal to me, but wanted to see if I’m missing anything. I don’t love Goff, but don’t think all that much of Darnold either.

I like the Goff side if this is on the table. He seems safer long term than Darnold to me.

I think Goff is the best player and in taking that side. He gets a lot of hate and is getting a downgrade in situation, but maybe he gets a ton of junk time and puts up fantasy points. I don't think he's all too different from Stafford in the end

All that said, Goff is an upgrade to Darnold. If you have any use for Dalton, great. Could always flip him with that 3rd to regain the value of the 2nd...

Flipping Dalton for a future 2nd was actually my thought process too, as I don’t see the need for him on a 24-team roster.

Thanks to both of you for the insight.

Their situations may seem similar, but keep in mind Darnold is going from a bad team to a good team. Goff is going from a good team to a god awful mess.

I don't have much faith in Dan Campbell ... He seems like a coach with the "tough guy" attitude and I've seen that attitude fall flat on it's face in today's NFL.

He's a former TE turned HC and I'm just skeptical he'll have success in Detroit. Historically it hasn't been the case for a long time and there's just not much to like there. Having a good GM/HC/QB relationship is something that all great teams have in common and we just don't know anything about the Lions chemistry right now.

Kenny Golladay not getting franchised is subjectively bad. I was under impression he'd get tagged just so they can truly evaluate what they have in Jared Goff as a QB.

Now I don't know what to think. I know Matt Rhule is an awesome HC and their front office seems a bit better than the Lions.

If this trade was sent to me I'd just wait until the draft is over. This is a situation where if either team drafts a QB you're going to be kicking yourself.

In all likelihood Goff and Darnold give similar fantasy performances week to week. This trade is kind of a wash. And the risk to reward factor just makes me wanna hold before you actively makes the move that ends up screwing you vs. just letting the draft happen and saying "oh well" if they do take a QB.

This was a landslide poll until recently and now it is much closer. Curious whether anyone else on the Darnold + 2.08 side of the coin have insight they’d care to share as to why. Thanks!

I prefer Goff to Darnold. I like getting Dalton here also as he can be flipped.
