As an Eagles fan myself, I can't say I completely agree with this being a knock on Gainwell, haha. But he is very likely going to be in a very specific, likely Hines-esq, role (Sirianni I believe actually came out and said as much, but it is coach-speak season)

Yeah, I mean it was great for Hines because Rivers targeted RBs a ton and Taylor didn’t have a ton of experience catching passes.

Sanders is a capable pass catcher and Hurts won’t throw the ball nearly as often to his RBs, right?

Sanders has been very up and down in the passing game, but yeah, I'd imagine Hurts taking off will probably eliminate something like 2 dump off targets a game.

I have to say, I wasn't on board with the Etienne = Kamara type comps as I think he comes into the league with more things to work on. If he hits his ceiling, he could become a Kamara type player. But I also believe Robinson is better than Latavius Murray ever was, and this is going to be a committee.

Could Etienne truly be moved all over the field to take advantage of his skills as a receiver, and his ability in open space? Sure, that could happen. But I'd rather take Javonte Williams if I needed a RB and was choosing between the two in my drafts.

ETN is a first round RB with one of the most productive careers in ACC history.

He’s going to have more truthers than Akers, and it was a nightmare trying to pry him away from people despite 10 weeks of his usage being an afterthought.

Maybe ETN will fall in the draft to the point where people that aren’t sold on him will land them on their rosters... but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Traded back twice and landed him at 1.09 in SuperFlex.

He's extremely likely to go 9 in the sf rookie draft I am in currently as well.

Man I hope you’re right. Ended up with him on 3 of my 6 teams. His highlights are great and really showcase what he is capable of, but for me he was kind of underwhelming when he wasn’t hitting that highlight play.

Meyer saying he wants ETN to be a hybrid and is taking snaps exclusively at WR during rookie camp. Thoughts?

I think it’s a brilliant way of optimizing Etienne’s strengths while hiding his weaknesses. That’s good coaching. It doesn’t mean he’ll play WR. But it does get him the ball in space and could give the Jags a different look if they put Etienne, Shenault, and Robinson all on the field at the same time. That could conceivably put a ton of pressure on opposing LBs and open the offense to fly sweeps each way while still maintaining a power aspect, along with the passing angle.

What weaknesses are you referring to?

686 RA 4952 Yards 7.2 YPA 70 TD's
102 REC 1155 Yards 11.3YPA 8 TD

6107 total yards 7.8 per touch 78 total TD's.

I do agree getting more dynamic players on the field together makes sense.

Like I’ve posted in other threads. I see Etienne struggling between the tackles without gaping holes to run through. He’s too upright, his momentum gets stopped quickly by a thrown arm or a shoulder, he hesitates when the seam is skinny, and he can’t create in tight spaces.

In space he’s a terror and his speed destroys tackling angles. He’ll do a nice job catching the ball. He’s going to be a valuable FF asset. But he’s not the do-it-all RB. Robinson can carry the power game. Or Armstead if he shows well. Let Etienne do Etienne and not try to make him something he isn’t.
