In a 12 Team 1QB with IDP (6 Spots, 2 LB, 2 DL, 2DB) what would you pay for Derwin James in picks?

This is very dependent on IDP scoring, but I still view James as a top 2-3 DB as he does a bit of everything. I usually try to break down my IDP valuations in terms of how they scored relative to WRs, because the player pool vs starting/roster spots kind of shakes out to similar ratios generally for DBs (or other IDP position).

I’d put James right there behind Baker and Adams at DB though, so if those guys scored close to what elite WRs did, I’d say an early-mid 1st for James. If they scored more in the Flex range, then maybe a mid-late 2nd. It really does all depends on your Lagunes IDP scoring.

In a 12 team league that only starts 2 DB, and given his recent injury history, the most I’m paying is a 3rd. Even then I’d probably prefer to use the capital elsewhere. I just don’t see a huge reason to invest in DB unless the scoring is very high and he provides a tangible edge (assuming he’s even healthy).

Edit: It being 1 QB boosts it a little bit, as I do all SF which adds later pick value, but still think a 3rd is all I’d jump at. That means I won’t get him, but not sure I want to jump to a 2nd unless I’m on the clock and know what I’m passing on. I prefer to maintain the flexibility within the draft.

I’m in a high scoring idp league, I moved him and a 2nd for Akers. I’d value James early/mid second, but I could see people going late first depending on the league

You have to lower his value, just like you would any other player that hadn't played much for 2 years even if it's a high scoring IDP. Not paying more than a 4th for a DB that's been injured for 2 years.

Recently bought Derwin in a 30 team (2x player copy), start 2 S league with heavy tackle scoring for S. Paid Rapp + high. 3rd.
