Rule Changes

How do you guys feel about rule/scoring changes on keeper leagues?

A little background. It is a keep 3 league that we throw in every 5 years. Last year we threw in and redrafted. We have a .5PPR league where QBs get 6 point TDs and .05 per yard. So every other position is nerfed by the .5 PPR and QBs have the yards advantage AND 6 per TD. It is also a 10 team league start 1QB, 2Rb, 2WR, 1FL, K, D. So it is a shallow starting 10 team league with QBs getting a huge advantage. (also defense is super over valued with 2 points per sack and scoring benefits so the league is just terrible)

I joined six years after the league started. I petitioned for this scoring to be more balanced. But was turned down because the league had been established for so long. I have tried to get more starting spots and more balanced scoring every offseason but I have been turned down each year.

During the season, I moved a guy I planned on keeping, M. Sanders (who averaged 13PPG), for another guy I planned on keeping, D. Prescott (who averaged over 37 PPG with this scoring). After making this move, they decided to look into balancing the scoring.

How much should I complain about moving my keeper and playing into the overvalued QB just for them to decide it is time to change the scoring?

A major change in keeper league scoring rules without unanimous consent from league members is ridiculous. Or at least multiple seasons of lead time to adjust to a major change.

I might try to push for the league to make the changes at a later date

Probably your best bet. for big changes we always make sure there's at least a season or two of buffer time. When we changed to ppr we did a slow transition. starting at .25 and working its way up to .7 over the course of 3 seasons.

I'd be pretty frustrated if I was in your situation, but at least a buffer like this would give you some sense of relief

I think for a change like that there should be a unanimous vote. In my league we always put the changes up to a vote and if its not unanimous, it doesn't get passed. Players values can change greatly based on scoring changes.

For any rule change to be effective for the current (2021) season our league requires a 95% vote that includes the commissioner/founder of the league. Any scoring changes go into effect the following season (2022) and require a 65% vote.

Votes are counted for each year of league service. If an owner has been in the league for 6 seasons, he would get 6 votes. A rookie owner would get one vote. You also need to have 2 years of league service to even propose any rule changes.

Currently our 12 team league has 62 votes outstanding. It gets complicated for some, but keeps the riff raff to a minimum.
