Wow, that is not at all as I remember Wentz 2018 season. I guess his stats suggest he didn't regress, but his team was bad that year, I recall Wentz playing poorly and his fantasy production went from top 2 to about 12th on a per game basis.

Regarding Burrow, I don't think he'll be as affected by the ACL long term because he does not rely on running. But I can see him struggling next season when he gets back on the field.

I've learned to not use the "generational" word in dynasty, because often that player never really is.

That said, I think Lawrence is the better prospect and will have the better career regardless of the team he goes to. The Jets give me some pause, but still Lawrence for me.

Burrow will be just fine.

Sincerely,

Tom Brady

This is a tough one. I think Burrow has more playmakers on his side and will seriously threaten for the title of most accurate QB in the league in the future. I don't think they'll allow him to run in the red zone anymore which was a sneaky advantage this season.
Lawrence, on the other hand, possesses more arm strength as well as tremendous accuracy and mobility. I think I'd take him for the long haul and I own Burrow in a handful of leagues. I think Burrow is the better play for next year, especially for the fantasy playoffs when he shakes the rust off.

I traded for Burrow and while I am not worried about his recovery, I am still considering Lawrence next year. I would have that position covered for the next dozen years. I think they are both going to be excellent pros.

I mean, I can't hardly think of a passing QB who didn't come back from an ACL injury. I am not so worried about the injury as the future of Cincy and whether they invest to protect him.

I think Burrow has shown enough to warrant being worth more than Trevor, especially as a Jet. That's just me. I've seen the Josh Rosen's being touted as the best in the class, not counting all the other guys that have busted, Leaf, RG3, Jamarcus Russel, etc. I would not be AT ALL surprised for Trevor to be better eventually, but his bust rate is not zero and that sways it for me.
Yep, Carson Wentz was once a top 5 dynasty QB, with no change after his ACL injury...I mean it was only a leg injury, no doubt he would have returned to his MVP caliber play...

Regarding Trevor vs Burrow, I think for fantasy you'd have to go with Trevor due to his likely increased rushing stats.
Wentz's best year from an efficiency and per game standpoint was actually the year AFTER his acl injury. He set career highs in YPA, completion percentage, yards per game, and QB rating.

Palmer's story isn't that different. If you looked over his career stats you couldn't find the two years where he tore his ACL without knowing them ahead of time.

Palmer 2005: 67% completion, 3836 yds, 7.5ypa, 32td, 12 int
Palmer 2006: 62% completion, 4036 yds, 7.8ypa, 28td, 13 int

He tore his ACL in January of 2006 so he wasn't even 9 months from his ACL tear when the 2006 seasons started and he still put up a very similar season.

Palmer's career best season was 2015, which started 10 months after his 2nd ACL tear.

2015: 64% completion, 4671yds, 8.7ypa, 35td, 11 int

With guys like Palmer and now Wentz people tend to just extrapolate them never taking the next step on their injuries, but the reality is there was probably only a 30-40% chance of them taking that next step with or without the injury. Palmer wasn't a great QB when he got hurt. He looked like he MIGHT turn into one. Like Baker Mayfield and so many before him though, for all we know he was just never going to develop into that guy.

If someone like Baker had torn his ACL at the end of his rookie year or Goff had torn his ACL at the end of his big year everyone would be blaming their failure to blossom into a HOF QB on the injury, but the reality is simply that most guys who flash elite potential don't actually become elite players.
This is an elite post.

Generational talents improve from their freshman season to their sophmore season. Trevor didn't. I am starting to pump the breaks on him being special. I'd take Burrow here

LOL

Except his

Completion %
Passer Rating
Yards per Attempt
Air Yards per Attempt

Have gone up every year of his career (with huge jumps so far this year from last year)

He threw for more total yards (3,665 from 3,280) and TDs (36 from 30) in his Sophomore season on only 10 more attempts. He did double his INT total from 4 to a whopping 8 though, and lost the only game of his career in the National Championship game to one of the greatest single season teams in the history of college football, so ya he regressed....

Instead of Lawrence with an unnamed NFL team, let's make it real- Lawrence in NYJ. Two high end prospects, two lousy organizations. Now add Burrow's injury and NFL play as a rookie.

Well the poll already is Burrow vs "Lawrence as a Jet"...
