How far is Fields behind Lawrence in draft capital and expected output once drafted?

Thank you for making this thread, im interested. QB is a weak spot on my team and i want lawrence but may have to take fields so im very interested. From things ive read it doesnt seem like they are that far behind each other.

I am bias as an Ohio State fan, but he looks fantastic this year. I wouldn't be worried about him being like Haskins in the pros. He's the total package. Very accurate this year with his ball placement and has great rushing upside. I'd be very happy with either he or Lawrence in my drafts.

Difference in draft capital? I think it’s safe to project these two at 1-2 or very close to it. Caused me to go look at 1-2 QB combos of the past

Mariota and Winston
Luck and RG3
Couch McNabb
Peyton Manning and Leaf
Bledsoe and admirer
Plunkett and Archie Manning

Dunno what conclusions ya can draw from this but it’s interesting

Well I guess one of them will be good, maybe.

I'm just curious if this is the first time Rick Mirer has been mentioned on the forums... The days when being a Golden Domer meant instant +Draft Stock

I'd argue manning and leaf or Luck and RG3 are the closest we have to these two

I still have a hard time wondering why he couldn't beat out Jake Fromm. Plus I watched QB1 and he came accross like a guy that doesn't put the work in. My two cents, they both will not live up to the hype

Because Kirby Smart is extremely conservative and wasn't going to bench a proven quality starter in favor of a higher upside option, unlike Dabo Swinney who recognized Lawrence was an upgrade and went to him rather than playing it safe with a QB who had taken them to a CFP appearance. Georgia would be title favorites this year if they still had Fields, instead they are already eliminated from contention because Kirby completely mishandled the QB position the last 3 years.

They seem to both be rated very highly, although Lawrence I think is unassailable as the #1. The problem for both is that they will likely end up on dumpster fire rosters. Which of them will be a Burrow who can elevate a team and overcome that and which will be a Darnold?

I get the comparison because both teams suck, but Burrow and Darnold are in far different situations. Burrow has a plethora of high calibre WR options in his rookie year while Darnold has had very little in the weapons department since day one.

I'm not sure anyone could overcome the dumpster that is the Jets without help from the organization. New coach, new culture, new weapons, improved line.

Trask has had a great 2020 and could very well be this year's Burrow type riser. That said, I haven't seen any NFL analysts taking him before Lawrence or fields yet. As good as Trask has been, Lawrence has been just as good but for his whole career. It would shock me to see him taken before Lawrence barring some sort of major injury or setback.

He's not even 3rd yet, Wilson and Lance still over him, and probably Mac Jones. All those guys are fighting over QB3 though, they aren't passing Lawrence or Fields.
